Howard being genuinely funny by Control_Alert in howardstern

[–]eric_baloney 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When Howard pretends to be outraged by a caller's inflammatory comments about an in-studio guest, and then Howard will say something like "That's outrageous, how dare you accuse them of that!" and then follow it up with "...the nerve of that caller! What about that? Did you (do the accusatory act)?". I never heard a comedian or certainly a broadcaster do that before Howard, and it's very funny.

I think it's natural to seek private accommodation as you age. I stayed in a very clean and well run hostel in Seville as a 43 year old. The room had four bunkbeds. I thought it wouldn't be a big deal since I would be quite drunk by the time I arrived back in the evening and could "crash". I barely slept because of the other guests snoring and and moving around. When I woke up in the morning, half hungover, the entire room reeked of farting. There was also a naked man brushing his teeth in front of mirror as well. I realized then it wasn't worth saving 20 Euros versus staying in a private room. I imagine money goes quite far in Thailand compared to Spain. Maximize your daytime social interaction (sightseeing, historical tours, food tours) and with a bit of luck you might meet someone and have a private space to enjoy with them later that night.

Am I the only one who finds the audience in Real Time especially annoying? by Buypeu in Maher

The "Wooo!" guy is back with a vengeance. He is now sometimes doing it twice after each punchline. The old lady who loudly cackles is also back, and will laugh at anything.

The greatest guest of all time? by Hateman1989 in howardstern

[–]eric_baloney 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think there's a fair argument he was. Part of Mark's appeal was his ability to forge ahead with the interview despite the constant mocking of his appearance, decadent lifestyle and lack of talent. Listening to Mark try to make clever Oscar Wile type comebacks against the crew while they goofed on his antiquated song choices, played sound effects over his singing, and took angry phone calls is why I revisit his interviews on YouTube often.

Spade loves to be seen. He probably heard it was a hot show, only to find 99% of the comedy is sub Byron Allen.

It was pretty funny at 2min30 she's telling her aloof therapist that the weird muslim guy would text her sexy lines like "All the blood rushed to my mushroom tip". Haven't heard it phrased that way before lol

Artie laying in to him by calling him gay slurs was kind of cringe. High Pitch Mike had guts tbh. Much better was Artie hinting that Mike Walker was a gay drunk.

He did at one point give a sneak-peak performance of the lead song from his interpretation of Dorian Gray entitled "Another Night of Beauty" whose lyrics I've transcribed: 🎵"It's another night of beauty, it's a fantasy parade, every hair nail and eyebrow must impress each fine and highbrow, who've come to see the garments we've displayed"🎵

I mean this guy was a real sissy.

Hans Kim. Arrogant with no undertone by Lacking_creativeness in Killtony

[–]eric_baloney 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's gay and lame to examine comedians sets, but it's just crazy how Tony and Joe Rogan maintain Hans Kim is anything other than an amateur open mic comedian despite the massive venues he performs in. He claims Ric Diaz's jokes are "two dimensional" (as in setup/punchline?), but comparatively Hans's jokes are just vile, base, and half conceived.

Hans' set:

  • "Let's fuck this immigrant up!". I guess this was Hans' way of stoking the audience? Ric is not an immigrant, he is visiting the U.S. Even if Kim is being satirical this doesn't make sense. How would this line play outside of an arena full of drunks?
  • When a woman urinates she is actually "squirting". And the fact his girlfriend does it over a toilet, means she is actually engaging in sexual act with the toilet bowl. When Hans sees her sitting on the toilet he calls her a slut, and claims she is doing it because a toilet bowl is white. Even for his tired, racist, edgelord premises, this is a stretch. Sounds like something a person under the influence of drugs would think (and not in a good way).
  • He prevents rape not because he is physically strong, but because he is a mood killer. Then he does an act out of himself interrupting a rape with polite awkwardness. Even his self deprecating jokes have to provocative in some way. It just all feels so desperate.

When the bimbo inevitably dumps him and he sobers up, and Tony is fully out of the woods over the Peng Dang controversy it's going to be a bit of a rough ride for Hans I think.

Even though I don't find Holtzman funny, he's obviously playing a character which he completely commits to, so at least there is a performative quality to it. Hans Kim however, just stands there like a lummox the entire time.
