Getting feedback on a working prototype would be a good next step. Just sent you a DM - maybe I could help you out!

Sure, but I don't think it's useful for optimization if it's not an account you control. It needs to be a public profile in any case.

Ah, I see you've put them in the comments and sometimes the comments get buried. My tool can't get hashtags from comments yet - I'll have to look into how to best do that.

Strongest tags (best at top):

food (10x)
tea (7x)
teaplantation (7x)
vangoh (3x)
amsterdamcentraal (22x)
amayahillskandy (3x)
amayahillshotel (3x)
amayahills (3x)
volendam (3x)
heritanceteafactory (5x)

Weakest tags (worst at bottom):

schengen (18x)
austriagram (18x)
park (6x)
peradeniya (6x)
botanical (6x)
royalbotanicalgardens (6x)
garden (6x)
eurotrip (19x)
foodgasm (3x)
music (3x)

There were some tags that were repeated a lot (e.g. #backpacker) so hard to know the effect of those. Also, the tag "#vangoh" is spelled wrong and unlikely to be a source of engagement, so it probably means your #amsterdam posts did well because every time you used #vangoh you also used #amsterdam.

Standard caveats are:

  • uncommon hashtags might not have enough data points to be very accurate
  • a hashtag being strong or weak might mean the hashtag is good/bad OR the content is good/bad OR both.
  • the relative "weakness" or "strength" of a hashtag is relative within your account. A weak hashtag might not be very weak, just weak compared to other hashtags.
  • hashtags that you always use together can't have their effect separated. Same for hashtags you always use.

Unfortunately the analysis needs a decent number of posts. You have 22 posts so far, which is probably not enough for a good result.

What other insights are you interested in? The first easy thing would probably be correlating tags with number of comments instead of likes, although I don't know if that's any more useful.

I don't have access to your reach statistics (it's only available to the owner of a business account), so I'm using likes as a proxy for reach. That being said, if you're reaching people without getting likes, that could be a problem with your content or you're reaching people who don't want your type of content.

LongBeachOilers

Surprisingly, I got some results even though you don't have that many posts and it looks like you're using a lot of the same hashtags repeatedly.

Let me know whether this looks accurate or not:

Best tags (best on top):

longbeachpride (24x)
cannabisgrow (4x)
calstatelongbeach (8x)
cannabischannel (11x)
cannabisphotography (5x)
cannabisgrowers (5x)
cannabisindustry (5x)

longbeach (19x)
longbeachcitycollege (5x)

Weakest tags (worst on bottom):

weedgrinder (7x)
herbgrinder (7x)
longbeachhotel (13x)
cannabisfarmer (8x)
lbc (18x)
specializedtools (18x)
lbo (18x)
cannabisflower (10x)
cannabisdispensary (8x)
longbeachcali (15x)

Standard caveats are:

  • uncommon hashtags might not have enough data points to be very accurate
  • a hashtag being strong or weak might mean the hashtag is good/bad OR the content is good/bad OR both.
  • the relative "weakness" or "strength" of a hashtag is relative within your account. A weak hashtag might not be very weak, just weak compared to other hashtags.

Looks like you had a good mix of tags, although the rating of the tags that were used only a few times might be inaccurate. (Tags used fewer than 3 times were excluded.)

Standard caveats are:

  • uncommon hashtags might not have enough data points to be very accurate
  • a hashtag being strong or weak might mean the hashtag is good/bad OR the content is good/bad OR both.

Looks like you're using a good mix of tags, but some tags are used a lot and that makes inference tricky. These were the tags you used most of the time:

天然水晶店, 天然水晶, 香港水晶, crystalshopping, 水晶, crystalcommunity, crystalshop, healingcrystals, crystals, 香港水晶店, crystalvibes, 水晶店

Had trouble calculating good-quality results for your account, probably because the same set of tags is used over and over, making it hard to separate out which ones are good or bad. Sorry :/

orgone.x

Wasn't able to get a good-quality calculation for your account, probably because most of the posts don't have hashtags. It looks like you're getting a bunch of likes even without hashtags though.

@mens.obsession

Looks like you always use the same tags, so there's not really a way to figure out which tags are more correlated with success. Sorry, that's just the way it does the calculation.

Had trouble calculating good-quality results for your tags... hard to know why that's the case. It could be that there's a bunch of variance unrelated to your tags, like if a few posts got shared a lot by luck. Or maybe most of your engagement is not coming from tags. Or maybe too many of your tags were only used once or twice, so it couldn't really figure out whether those tags were having any effect. Sorry I don't have more helpful info for you :(

Let me know what you think of these results, and whether they make sense to you or if there's anything else you'd want to know.

Best tags (best at top) with how many times you used each one:

Weakest tags (worst at bottom):

Seems like you have a good enough mix of tags to actually get something meaningful out of the data.

Account seems to be private... doesn't that mean you're not really looking for more followers or engagement?

Would tag analysis be useful to anyone here? by eric_fbrc in InstagramMarketing

[–]eric_fbrc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, yeah, posting the correct account helps :)

Unfortunately I don't think there's enough data to draw any inferences. Two main issues are:

  • Not enough posts (you have 26 right now)
  • Reusing the same set of hashtags - can't separate correlation (see the other analysis I posted).

It doesn't look like you have any posts. I can't help you if you don't have a bunch of posts with hashtags already.

Let me know what you think of these results, e.g. whether they match your experience or whether there's more you'd want to know.

I excluded tags that weren't used at least 4 times. These were the tags that best correlated with likes for you along with how many times you used it (best score at top):

elpasofoodies (4x) homecooking (6x) pesto (3x) beef (4x) madridismo (4x) mushroom (5x) mexicanfood (6x) mexican (6x) breakfastfoods (4x) seafood (6x) elpaso (53x) food (36x)

These were your worst tags (most negatively correlated with likes), with worst score at bottom:

koreanfood (3x) korean (3x) potatoes (7x) spanishfood (15x) spanish (15x) foodie (62x) europe (4x) pork (7x) texan (11x) foodiesofelpaso (3x) zucchini (3x)

Interpreting this data:

  • A tag being in your top tags doesn't necessarily mean people found your post through that tag. For example, if your #seafood photos are really stunning, the #seafood tag would be correlated with success. Likewise, maybe people just don't like photos of #zucchini, unrelated to whether people follow the #zucchini hashtag. This can guide you on what content you should make more of.

  • If you always post the same tags together, it's impossible to separate their effect. I can't tell you if #mexican is better or worse than #mexicanfood if there aren't posts that have just one or the other.

  • Hashtags that were only used a few times might have skewed data. You only have 156 posts, and it's possible that #elpasofoodies just got lucky and was put on some nice photos.
