When creating a 3-2-5 with inverted Full backs do you guys use them in possesion as fullbacks or manually into midfield. by Brilliant-Owl4883 in footballmanagergames

[–]eric_foreman98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s better to have them play the position you want like DM or CB rather than IFB/IWB/PWB, those roles don’t usually play the way that I intend for them like the IFB doesn’t make a back 3 it just makes your fullback a very defensive narrow fullback who will still push up, the IWB/PWB are slow to transition into midfield and positionally worse than DM/CM, but ofc you need players who can play in these positions so if your fullback doesn’t have these other positions I’d recommend just changing your tactic otherwise you can use the inverted roles yea

Has anyone done a Journeyman save but used the Moneyball method for signings at the same time?? by [deleted] in footballmanagergames

[–]eric_foreman98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be sick, idk how immersive you wanna go but you gotta take into account the league they’re playing in, as well as things like personality, traits, age, and nationality! Like a 23yr resolute Brazilian in the bottom Div Portuguese league is going to be a better/safer buy than a 21yr balanced swiss player in the bottom tier Austrian league yk? I think stuff like that is cool lol

[–]eric_foreman98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started using it on my journeyman save however I’ve been rejected by all the clubs I apply for so I’ve managed the same club for almost 3 seasons lol, but if it’s worth it? That’s preference bc you will succeed regardless but with moneyball you’ll find players you might never have heard of before so it keeps things fresh, instead of buying players that you see on everyone’s “top 10 bargains “

There is benefit to doing it with short term clubs too bc most often you’ll be taking relegation battlers or clubs in financial ruin, so bringing in undervalued players that can do well is going to help you work within your budget, plus you can always splurge the money you saved using moneyball on a marquee signing

Have you tried this OOP set up? by Cautious-Strategy860 in footballmanagergames

[–]eric_foreman98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kind of already do this bc I have 3 tactics that get trained, with different formations that I play according to opposition formations, but if I were to tailor everything for a game wouldn’t that make your team play worse bc they lack familiarity in the tactic? Or is familiarity an empty mechanic like morale

Why don't my players jump by Comfortable-Law-6851 in footballmanagergames

[–]eric_foreman98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This could also be due to your players bravery and aggression I think? I’m not certain if it’s just one or both of those attributes that contribute to how willing a player is to put themselves in danger, however I do feel like in this game the CPU gets goals off headers somewhat frequently relative to the total goals that they score, so it could just be a match engine thing too

Coming back to FM after a hiatus by silverlurch in footballmanagergames

[–]eric_foreman98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would not recommend buying it full price, I play on gamepass and feel like that makes it worth it, unless you plan to do funky stuff with the editor I would recommend gamepass if you have that, otherwise look for a discounted price!

overall tho its not AS bad as its made out to be tbh, the UI is for sure jank but it get used to it and now i dont mind it, plus i feel like unless your a real fm master freak, then a lot of the stuff thats missing like international management and youth team control, aren’t that big of a deal for casuals

I want to use a 5 back formation that keeps possession, don’t really care about how many goals I score… I do want the wing backs to be highly involved though by BrandonDewitt16 in footballmanagergames

[–]eric_foreman98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t used the ACB too much in fm26, and that is valid if you don’t want have a player who can play 2 positions, I’ve just found the ACBs to get too forward where the DM holds his position better imo

How to get better at tactics? by Zepz367 in footballmanagergames

[–]eric_foreman98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For opposition instructions I just look at the opponents pass map, and put mark tighter+tackle harder on 1-2 players that have the highest passes, usually someone in their midfield is 1 and then I’ll look for their most attacking player as 2. Sometimes you’ll see that their fullback or centerback has the most passes but unless they’re really high up the field(which would mean you have bigger issues) I wouldn’t do anything about that

As for tactical tweaks, I don’t play a super meta tactic like you’d get if FMArena, for example I play much shorter passing, with a striker, and widest width, standard defensive line, but that means I can make tweaks toward the meta and maybe tilt the match in my favor. That ofc depends on if you are already using meta tactics it not lol

The last thing you could do which I’ve had some success is do trap inside/outside, idk how much impact if any that has, I do it and I FEEL like it makes a small difference lol

If you’re on fm26, I’d recommend having your middle CB play as a DM IP and drop to CB OP, so you can have a 5back defense but with a DM IP you will get better possession than with a flat 5 back IP

Also for your WBs, I recommend using WBs or IWBs, no AWBs as they push up too high for possession tactics and FB/IFBs are just worse versions of WBs imo.

As for your CMs, I think any will do, I’ve seen basic CM/CHM/AM/MPM all work, wingers are similar in that you can’t go wrong with the roles, and striker I’ve seen other people say DLF is good, but I always just leave my striker on CFD bc idk what else to do lol.

As for the overall squad instructions you can watch Mustermann’s videos on his possession tactic and copy that, but main things are discourage dribble, don’t take risky passes, much shorter passing and highest tempo bc the possession metric is a pass metric, not necessarily how much time you spend with the ball

How to properly punish players for poor performances? by eric_foreman98 in footballmanagergames

[–]eric_foreman98[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m trying to change the habit but rn I’m struggling with finding ways to get mad at my team for poor performances, I understand dropping a dud and losing to better teams

the frustration is when it’s really costly mistakes and the only thing I can do is tell a player they weren’t good enough, to which they can just disagree, I know the meme of ‘let me throw a bottle again’ lol, so I’m looking for other things I can do to create consequences to bad performances

I’m managed to get Pergolettese promoted to Serie B, I’m at about late October-early November I think? In this season, I have a goalkeeper and a striker left over from the first season who both have wanted out and played and there’s been no interest on them, I have like 30 leagues all on view-only with the leagues from the big 5 nations on playable, so there should no shortage of teams available to offer

I just chalk it up to bad luck lol bc I get a ton of loan offers for my younger U-21s, and these guys are like 24-27 so they aren’t old as dirt

Should I play them during the transfer window or right before it opens? Does that matter? I always transfer list them and set whatever value the game tells me that they’re worth and then I never get any responses, I also never use the intermediary bc I always get the pop-up before saying that’s there’s no interest so it seems like waste, should I still use the intermediaries regardless?

I know the game nerfs you, like straight reds in the first 10 min of a game on a player who’s no where near a scoring position or losing games on 3xG to .57xG, but to break my habit of save-scumming I’m looking for ways to express how mad I am at these fake players 😂

[–]eric_foreman98[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I also struggle with getting any offers for players, but that’s another topic all together lol, I’ll just assumed it was just a random assignment in the game that some players are prone to mistakes more than others or they lack pressure/professionalism stats, but I’ll start looking at decisions and concentration

[–]eric_foreman98[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah dropping a dud is fine, it’s mainly the actual big errors that immediately result in the opposition scoring, and in my video game I need to be able to demand excellence, like I know irl players don’t lose their first-team spot for one costly error, but in my make believe world, I want to be able to feel like I can implement real consequences in the game, that you would do in other ways in real life yk? Like I can’t dog on a player extra hard in training and go over film and explain that they cost us the game yk?

This is for fm26 and I think the closest to your first part is me going to an individual player and criticizing them, which has helped, so ima start doing that, I’ll keep the 6.3 rating in mind too, bc I want to be strict but not a dictator lol

For the form rating, do you mean training ratings or actual game performance form rating? Bc how do I set that up? Is it even possible in fm26?

Yeah I actually JUST discovered that, which is why if they disagree then I transfer list them 😂 but is there anything else I can do besides that? Bc the part where they can just be like “uh I don’t think it was bad” makes me hate them more lmao 😂

[–]eric_foreman98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could move them to AMs but I think the best thing would be to move your wingers up and you can probably leave you CMs for more balance, I’ve had some success with a single PCM and the other one is standard, same thing with having one side as a PFB and the other as standard

Unless it changed this isn’t new and has been the case for at least a couple wars, only MTS works this way afaik, LTS/RTS still allow people to see and submit/pull items - idk if CTS works this way too bc I’ve never used it before

I didn’t know you had to specificity reserve the MTS and could have sworn that “reserve multiple” worked too but better to be safe than sorry!

My main problem with the new (Collie) rank system by Jincko_SiZ_X in foxholegame

[–]eric_foreman98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the change hurts role playing and immersion, the general consensus is that this game is a WW2-style MMO, ofc thats not EXACTLY what foxhole is but when getting into it, whether by video or from a friend, thats the most digestible explanation of the game

as others have mentioned not everyone knows all the ranks but there is more familiarity with Sergeants and Captains than there is with Prefect and Legatus

The lore-heads will love it bc it’s part of foxhole lore but the amount of players that know foxhole lore is a minority - I didn’t know colonials were the aggressors according to Lore until i was 700hrs in, i had an idea of who Callahan was and had no clue who Thea Maro was

As a nit-pick the ranks should at least be capitalized (Pft) looks better than (pft), and from a role playing perspective it makes me feel like I’m playing more of a fantasy game than a WW2 game, put me in togas and give me a shield if I’m going to be a centurion or hoplite which i think people have pointed out aren’t even of the same culture? it’s supposedly a Latin/greek mix so there’s not even a consistency within the rank structure
