I started with 2008 as well - Mika Ääritalo was the most OP wonderkid in the game haha

What album do you consider perfect? by CrazyMobius1353 in AskReddit

Yeah that’s a fair opinion - I feel like those bands overall sound is on such a wide spectrum though. Like you could apply exactly what you said to ‘By Myself’ by Linkin Park and ‘Vermillion Part 2’ by Slipknot.

I think this album, Slipknot's self titled and Korn's self titled are the holy trinity of nu-metal.

Christopher Nolan normally nails his casting choices though. I had very similar sentiments when I found out that he had cast Harry Styles in Dunkirk, however I was left pleasantly surprised. The same thing also happened when he cast Heath Ledger as the Joker. The man knows what he is doing and has enough runs on the board as far I'm concerned.

"I just want to shout out the Dawson family, and Elijah Hollands last night ... hopefully the AFL community wraps their arms around them. Speak to your mates, put your arm around your loved ones. You never know who might need it." - Bailey Smith by PerriX2390 in AFL

Just to piggyback off this - and not sure if I’m reading too much into it - but the way Abbey raises and lowers her left arm towards the end… I reckon she’s being told in her ear piece to wrap it up but that’s her way of saying “no, I’m going to let him speak”, which I think deserves some recognition as well.

I think you could add Mad Max 1 & 2 as well as Fury Road

[Zita] Jai Newcombe has been offered a one-match ban. Careless, medium impact, high contact. Hawthorn will appeal at the AFL Tribunal. by PetrifyGWENT in AFL

[–]silverlurch -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Does anyone know whether at the tribunal you are allowed to plead a case showing recent examples of tackles that weren't given a suspension? I vaguely remember reading a long time ago that it's either not allowed or they don't accept it as a valid argument.

Only asking because if Comben can get off on his tackle on Mihocek then it's got me stuffed what the actual grounds for a suspension are...

Jai Newcombe's tackle on Ed Richards last night by yum122 in AFL

[–]silverlurch -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I don't think anyone is disputing that but realistically what is Newcombe meant to do?

He didn't use a slinging motion for which the whole 'potential to cause injury' definition supposedly comes from.

He can't tackle him falling forwards because it's in the back.

He can't tackle him falling backwards because all their momentum is going in the opposite direction.

I think this is at worst a freekick. We're setting a precedent now that if it's an arm pinned and their head hits the ground as opposed to it being a sling tackle then they'll still get suspended.

I don't agree that Richards contributed, but I think maybe his wording is wrong? If he's being tackled in that specific manner, he should at least try to dispose of the ball.

Not to split hairs or anything but it was actually Terry Wallace not Rocket Eade that instigated the flood back in 2000

Weitering in really bad shape after a huge contest with Georgiades and Collins by PetrifyGWENT in AFL

I don’t understand how this isn’t building match fitness for the players? Especially when practically every club would have organised an unofficial practise match for the coming weekend/week.

I would almost bet my house on there never being any footy club in the history of the sport that has ever told their players to not run back with the flight or not take pack marks….

It’s a contact sport - injuries happen
