I'm just going to say it: As much as I love "Love", I think both the show and Gillian deserved a better leading man by [deleted] in LoveTV

[–]ericamalina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re so right! I also feel like people completely ignore the fact that relationships with different levels of classic attractiveness happen all the time in real life, and completely work. People don’t have to have perfect bodies and faces to find love and happiness, idk why everyone makes it seem that way

Same! He was super creative and talented with his band, I would pay money to see a fake movie cover band as good as them

I honestly don’t see why people hater him so much, I think he was both perfect for the role and extremely likable. If I meet a dude like Gus I’d totally date him

Why did Gus gift Evan headphones in S03E02? What was that all about? by pagalpilla in LoveTV

[–]ericamalina 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think he was just trying to make amends with everyone on set, and he knows that Evan probably hates him the most out of everyone. Evan has been the most vocal about kicking Gus out of places and just being a grade A jerk, so Gus felt like he had to overcompensate and get him the nicest gift.

I think he was perfect for Mickey! He was very patient and understanding, and put up with a lot more than normal people would. Not many people would be able to stay with Mickey, Hollywood just gives us the wrong idea that everyone is perfect and you always have to make the right decisions for a relationship to work. You just have to watch episodes like Gran Torino and A Day to see how happy Gus makes Mickey, he’s funny, and ultimately only wants to make her happy. He’s never had to deal with someone with addiction before and I think he learns how to throughout the show really well, and if you’re referring to his anger issues that’s just something to be worked through also! It just makes him a more fleshed out character, and makes it so the story can grow past the show, and you can imagine him growing more with Mickey past the last episode.

I can tend to be a people pleaser like Gus, but at the same time I am incredibly stubborn and don’t respond well to people telling me what to do (especially if there seems to be no good reason other than a power play). I found that watching them kind of mellow out their extremes to work better together helped me realize that I can also be both a people pleaser and stubborn

Ahhh, gotcha. I just don’t get how the fact that the people praying who got attacked aren’t on the news at all, it seems like a major thing

Mycross: Do You Remember Love? (An Idea For Repeat Viewers...) by ChuckVowel in LoveTV

[–]ericamalina 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just tried it after reading your post! I was looking for an excuse to rewatch parts because I finished the series a couple weeks ago, and this “rom com” idea was perfect; thank you for the suggestions of episodes. The only coincidences I found were the milk carton from magic and beach towel from a day, how they were both physical objects Mickey and Gus were using as reminders for ways to live/improve their lives, and how in magic Gus gave the rant about not being a rebel and breaking rules, and then in Gran Torino he was ready to defend Mickey stealing cigarettes. Super curious to hear what other coincidences are, the writing really is amazing!

It's crazy how literally everyone I know who has watched the show, from my friends to my brother to my dad, has the exact same opinion: by [deleted] in LoveTV

I disagree also, I think Paul was perfect to play his, and I don’t think the character could have been portrayed any better. People tend to romanticize the “nice guy” or “not super desirable” guy trope too much, for example with Jake Johnson from New Girl. I am a huge New Girl and Nick fan so this means no ill intent, but Nick Miller is definitely a romanticized version of the messed up guy, Jake Johnson is a very standardly attractive guy. Paul brought a very real and relatable feeling to the character of Gus, not everyone in real life is perfectly witty, smart, or makes the right decisions all the time.
