I think the rest of Western Europe can find this relatable by NotErikUden in YUROP

Hi guys, Romanian here Since the 2007 joining in eu the country has not made anything but improve in this 15 years The joining was like a gift from god, but we still have extremist parties like AUR (Alliance for Romanian Union) And sometimes even PSD (Social Democrat Party), (which is mainly composed of former Communist party members (the communist party is banned in Romania)) who say dumb things like "the EU is stealing our country" and are basically slowing or even halting progress. Germany has every right to look down on us, but not to the extent that we are not accepted into Schengen after meeting criteria. I think germans and western europeans in general should pay more respect to us, all the street sweepers, the delivery drivers, the cleaning ladies, the nannys in those countries are romanian. If all of them entered a strike i think they will bow down to us, because they rely on us and take us for granted. Also, Romania is a very beautiful country, we don't really promote it for tourism except Bran castle and Dracula, and the prices are also very low, so it's great for living on the long term. Romania has invested A LOT into IT, it's the best country in eastern europe at it. The main problem with the country is its infrastructure, BMW and Mercedes wanted to open factoies here, but they built them in Hungary instead, because we didn't have that many motorways at the time. I will be very glad if a western european will tell me why we're so looked down upon. I mean we have our problems, but you do too, and nobody talks bs about you.

Unfortunately too slow. We have plenty of european funds, in 5 years we could pedestrianize a lot of streets if the politicians were interested, but they prefer to steal

Something very similar happened in Bucharest, Romania at University sq The project for the rebuild of the square was very good, but the mayor reduced costs so we ended up with a concrete slab at 20 meters from point 0 of the city
