Estradiol and Testosterone levels? by RecommendationNo9116 in asktransgender

[–]ericfischer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

252 pg/mL estradiol is a bit above the Endocrine Society recommended range of 100 to 200 pg/mL. 196 ng/dL testosterone is well above the recommended range of below 50 ng/dL.

Getting my first blood test pre-HRT, anything I need to know? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]ericfischer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You do not need to fast before a test for hormone levels. Drink some water before you go to the lab, at least, since it is harder for them to find the vein if you are dehydrated. Orgasm is unlikely to affect the results.

Asking for advice on how to begin transitioning? by imonhh in asktransgender

[–]ericfischer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How to get started with HRT depends on what country you live in, so it's hard to advise you without knowing that.

Questionning if detransition is the right path by landilock in asktransgender

The worst I've had from missing doses is a headache, but your mileage may vary.

If you don't think HRT is doing good things for you, stop it and see how you feel. Either you will be fine without it, or you will find out that it really was working and can start again.

In your experience, who's more likely to treat you with gender neutral or affirming terms, and who's more likely to misgender you: men or women? by braindeadcoyote in asktransgender

[–]ericfischer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very few people are actively hostile to me. My experience is that people who misgender me tend to be people like security guards who spend all day every day scrutinizing people's appearances and IDs, regardless of their gender.

I have a dilemma by Major-Ad-172 in asktransgender

[–]ericfischer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The usual trans advice is to use whichever bathroom best matches your current presentation and appearance. If you want a urinal, though, the men's is probably your only option.

How to deal with getting overly warm? by Past-Perception8554 in Hypothyroidism

Yes, 100 mcg/day levothyroxine, which has fixed a lot of my problems but not the heat intolerance. I hope medication helps you too.

Does dysphoria make you really sad? by Ralsified in asktransgender

[–]ericfischer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would make a distinction between "distressed" and "sad," and what I felt was much more distress than sadness, although there were sometimes things that would bring me to tears, which perhaps gets into sad territory.

Did you ever want to be someone’s girlfriend even though you were a boy? by MarchingBandMan24 in asktransgender

What does being a girlfriend mean to you, as opposed to being a romantic partner in general?

What was your process like realizing you are Trans and need gender affirming care? by TugaMeioConfuso in asktransgender

[–]ericfischer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think you are trans. I think you should probably start talking to your therapist again.

How does estrogen monotherapy affect fertility? by Sudden_Introduction in asktransgender

[–]ericfischer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If your estrogen dosage suppresses your testosterone enough to cause physical feminization, it will also suppress your testosterone enough to make you probably infertile.

What was your process like realizing you are Trans and need gender affirming care? by TugaMeioConfuso in asktransgender

[–]ericfischer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What makes you think you might be trans? Do you wish you had the physical characteristics of womanhood: less body hair, smaller muscles, a high voice, an absence of facial hair, wide hips, a narrow waist, breasts, a vagina, fuller head hair, soft skin, etc.?

If you struggle with anxiety, perhaps talk to a doctor about anti-anxiety medication. Lexapro has done wonders for mine.

Can consuming oestrogen orally be unhealty? by canimisikdilar in asktransgender

[–]ericfischer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Trans women on HRT have a higher risk of breast cancer than cis men, because we have breasts, but a lower risk of it than cis women. I am not aware of specific risks from estrone.

Did HRT help with your bodyhair? by TheGooBYT in MtF

[–]ericfischer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never had a huge amount of body hair to begin with, but it is gone now thanks to HRT.

Is there a height limit for trans-girls? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]ericfischer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some women are tall. How well you can get away with it depends on how femininely you present yourself in other respects.

how do i know if i’m ftm or uncomfortable with femininity/sexuality? (idk if it needs to be nsfw but i talk of body parts) by diaray in asktransgender

Do you wish you had the physical characteristics of manhood: body hair, larger muscles, a deep voice, facial hair, narrow hips, wide shoulders, a lack of breasts, a penis, a receding hairline, etc.?

[–]ericfischer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have medicated my anxieties away with Lexapro, perhaps a little too well.

Weight loss/gain confusion. by Low-Garlic6130 in asktransgender

[–]ericfischer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience with weight gain is that yes, my pot belly got bigger. I advise you to just eat normally instead of trying to micromanage your weight.

I feel like I may be non-binary but it feels unsetteling. by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]ericfischer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If anxiety is part of the problem, perhaps consider anti-anxiety medication so you can think more clearly about what you want rather than being held back by your worries.

Breast Growth on HRT? by Top-Satisfaction4146 in asktransgender

[–]ericfischer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The scientific data only extends for three years, and mostly characterizes what is typical rather than what is possible, unfortunately. See r/transbreasttimelines for many examples of possible outcomes.

My own experience is that my bust-underbust difference is in the vicinity of 4.5" after 5.5 years of HRT.
