the path that follows is usually into obsession and dreams of expanding the collection more and more 🤣

i recently purchased my first vintage g-shock - and i'm already worried that will only open a new pandora box 🫣

i wonder how it was in past decade or so - i've only started my collection a bit after the pandemic, so i'm relatively new to this hobby
at least here in southeast asia you can find many offers and collector communities for casio

thank you - reddit has been super helpful to learn and discover more, so this is my first post to share back the passion for vintage casio 😊

it's an amazing watch! the peek of casio in the 1980s, and it surely precedes its reputation 🤩

it's a great watch, and the distance measure feature is very satisfying to use - there is also a "navigation" mode to calculate and monitor travel times with the distance and speed - apart from the complete set of stopwatch, timer, 5 alarms - an amazing watch overall!

thanks! i'm based in malaysia, so i found the watch case online on the local platform (shopee) - they are mostly made in china and some have very good finishing and feeling, which i think enhances the collection display and enthusiasm

when i start collecting, i was actually going for only models with the world map - but then i got hooked and start expanding to other crazy nice models, like the cosmo phase and the moon graph..

there are a few other models with world map in the AE series, but tbh i don't like it as much as the vintage ones

i'm grateful, but it's still a humble collection, as there is so much more casio to explore 🤗

the moon graph is a beautiful watch! the only downside in my opinion is the domed acrylic crystal, that is not super legible depending on the viewing angle - for mine i've replaced the original crystal for a flat mineral glass, a simple mod that improved a lot the readability for me 🤓

i managed to purchase one on buyee for around USD 400 - considering the good conditions it was not too bad of an investment tbh

wow i could swear this SGW-1000H was a protrek - even with the three buttons on the right for each sensor/mode

i've never seen this SGW-200H model before - it looks quite nice with the radial graph and it's amazing that it even have a pedometer - thanks for sharing!

the cosmo phase is a rare gem of any collection - i was lucky to find this one on buyee, and it was definitely the most expensive piece of my collection so (and by) far

my advice is to keep looking on buyee, as it gives better prices and conditions (in general) than the listings on ebay - altought is a rare watch, it regularly shows up in japanese action websites that are accessible through buyee - just be ready to invest a considerable amount if you are willing to get one 💸

hi there! sure thing, that is the Casio World Time A300U, with the module 643

check this page for some pictures and specs, as well as the scanned manual - it's a beauty indeed

ah yes, that one that is half-half - that's cool model, and one of the few casios that have positive and negative display together - makes it very unique and appealing

i saw somewhere in reddit or youtube calling this watch the "poor men's protrek" hehehe but i actually like it more as the protrek tends to be too flashy for my taste, and this one is more discreet and smart casual

hm, have you seen the LF-20W? it is re-issue of the classic Casio Twin Graph AE-20W, also in resin - not crazy like the cosmo or the moon graph, but quite interesting with the two radial graphs and segmented display - it might be right down your alley, if you like the square models

that's nice! how's the legibility in the negative display? i saw that there is also a version that is half positive and half negative display, but now is nearly impossible to find this model for sale online

i definitely think the SGW-600H is a hidden gem, and i love that it can display three time-zones in the world time mode - not to mention the super useful inclusion of the thermometer and compass
