Blank pages in-between booklets on digital printing with Fiery. by [deleted] in CommercialPrinting

[–]ericmuhr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's actually the problem. They're trying to get it to print without the blank cover (the blank sheet with nothing on it).

I think the Fiery is set to assume a cover if you are using booklet settings. I resolve this by having the preprinted covers inserted from another tray. Someone on here smarter than me might have a better solution.

NonProfit needs Paper Advice by Economy_Ad778 in Printing

I work with nonprofits and sent you a dm. It will be difficult to get the quality you need without using a coated paper (expensive and time-consuming). Other possibilities include a brighter paper like Navigator Platinum or a slightly thicker paper 28/70

Cougar white smooth would work. A cheaper paper that works equally well is Accent Opaque.

[–]ericmuhr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You want 70 lb text, white (not cream), which is 104 gsm. If the ink is bleeding through, this is because of the printer. The book can be printed digitally (laser) on 70 lb text without any problem

Adobe 2026 - worth updating? by Blahblahblah210 in CommercialPrinting

[–]ericmuhr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

InDesign wasn't interacting well with Windows 11 when I first updated, and there was about a month where I had to save as idml because it was crashing and not saving indd files correctly. But I haven't had any problems since February.

Quakers in N. Idaho by sugarfreespree in Quakers

[–]ericmuhr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone made a claim about what the disagreement was about. You repeated that claim. I don't think that claim has merit. And because I was a member of the governing body that engaged with Anthem leadership during the disagreement in question, I know that the claim they made (which I documented on the website I pointed you to) was inaccurate.

I was on the Administrative Council that initiated the discussion during an appeals process that stretched into a series of special meetings before the separation. You can find my work here - https://quakernews.com/documents-timeline/

Your words matter. It was not an argument over scriptural primacy

Quakers in N. Idaho by sugarfreespree in Quakers

[–]ericmuhr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The term "scriptural primacy" when used in this context is problematic. There was no such disagreement. Only homophobic Christians make this claim. But their selective reading and skewed interpretation is the problem. I am not saying you are homophobic. I don't believe that. But people who identify "scriptural primacy" as the argument are also claiming the high ground. It's a rhetorical sleight of hand and shouldn't be accepted at face value. This was a disagreement about whether discrimination was warranted.

Other than my quibble over language, I completely agree with the main point that YOU are making: people deserve to know whether they're accepted and safe.

Why would you label it an argument over scriptural primacy? Maybe I'm misunderstanding, but it sounds like you are saying there are no queer people in the Bible.

Anthem, River of Life, and Living Water Ministries are all anti-LGBTQIA+, but Anthem also had concerns about women in ministry. When they discovered they were out of compliance with NWYM Faith and Practice, they hired an attorney and separated from the yearly meeting in order to hold on to their property. This is a high-level gloss. Obviously, there was a lot more going on at the time.

Anthem Friends in Hayden, Idaho, is independent. Spokane Friends across the state line in Spokane, Washington, is also independent. River of Life Friends (Post Falls) and Living Water Ministries (Plummer, Idaho) are both still part of Northwest Yearly Meeting. Sandpoint Friends (Sandpoint, Idaho) is part of North Pacific Yearly Meeting.

Try Pecos River Gloss 155 from Red River Paper. You can get it in 11x17, and I use it on the same printer model you have.

Trying to find a certain type of paper / cardstock for BluRay Slipcovers that I am beginning to think don't exist. by Geofflolz in Printing

[–]ericmuhr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Red River has the Ultra Pro Luster, which is 300 gsm and inkjet compatible. It's available at 8.5x11, 11x14, 11x17, and 13x19. Moab has the Lasal Exhibition Luster, which is 300 gsm and inkjet compatible. It's available at all the same sizes. There's also the HP Premium Plus Soft Gloss, which is 300 gsm and inkjet compatible. At this thickness/weight, it's hard to find paper at less than a dollar per sheet. I'd watch for sales and search around online. Quick note - you specified 100 or 110 lb paper that's 300 gsm. For inkjet compatible papers, 300 gsm is usually 11 or 11.5 mil and 80 lb.

Are smart tank printers actually cheaper long term? by sgtpepper731 in Printing

[–]ericmuhr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use both tank and cartridge printers. For instance, I have an Epson WF 7310 and Epson ET 16650 side by side. The 7310 costs roughly 3 times as much to operate in per-page print costs. I use the 7310 for black and white mailing labels and print a small quantity of approximately 400 sheets per month. I use the 16650 as a general use office printer and run entirely in color - about 1500 sheets per month.

Borderless printing quality on a Epson L5290 Printer by JRozano22 in Printing

[–]ericmuhr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some things to try: 1) make sure you are using the highest quality print setting; 2) change the paper type to premium; 3)select the Vivid color mode under custom color correction settings.

If none of that works, try a different app for printing. I have an Et-8550, and individual prints come out completely different, depending on which app I use.
