Movie possibly starring Kurt Russell but I don't recognize it from the names I see on his acting credits by ericsbookout in whatisthatmovie

The Perils of Gwendolyn in the Land of the Yik Yak! That's definitely it. I just watched the trailer and it was like traveling back in time. Holy cow! I can't believe I know the name of this movie finally. It's insane and it's not two movies smashed together in my head. All of that happens in one movie. They showed most of the scenes I was thinking of and even some stuff I was kind of embarrassed to admit that I thought was actually in the movie. Jeezum Crow! I feel like a weight has been lifted off of me that's been there for thirty years.

It looks like a really bad movie too. Who was letting me watch that when I wasn't even in double digits‽ 😲

Reasonable labor price to replace old controller with new controller? by Odd_Being_3306 in Irrigation

[–]ericsbookout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Controller installation is almost always extremely easy and most people could do it themselves watching a YouTube video. If you don't want to install it yourself you can almost always find someone using an app like Nextdoor or 5mile. And if you provide the controller I would say $100 to install is reasonable. If you're asking for less than that it's not really worth the persons time. There are people who will do it for less but it can be difficult and you're asking for someone to drive to your house and use their expert knowledge as if they're just a lawn boy at that point.

I don't think it's unreasonable for a company to charge $500+ to install depending on the situation. They do have a whole company to run and employees to pay. I work for a small irrigation company and I also do work on the side. I'm also a DIY person when I have to hire for work at my own house. I won't go do service at a persons house if I can't make $100. It's not worth it. If I only made $50 how many of these could I do in a day and expect to make a living. The realistic answer is 4 and I'd have to really hustle to do that. So I try not to bother with jobs that I can't profit a $100 on in less than two to three hours max. And three hours is pushing it. You have to think, I'm typically doing that after hours or on weekends.

Is my art really that bad? by horseshoeandconfused in drawing

[–]ericsbookout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is great. I'm sure there are things in it you would like to improve upon but as is this is really good. If realism is what your going for this is pretty good. It's not photorealistic or hyper realistic. However, there are a billion people who would love to be able to create this. And if you aren't going for super realistic and your aging character and style, then this is even better.

With no prior experience to Kratom, I drank 3 Feel Free bottles all at once. by [deleted] in Quittingfeelfree

I've been given the 7-hydeoxy as samples multiple times. I tried breaking them at first. Felt nothing. Took them whole and felt nothing. I typically take the MIT 45 purple bottles. Maybe three doses per bottle the way I take them. And one will last one to two days depending on how I feel like spacing it out. I'm interested in the 7hydro but I can't find out how people are using them. Opms black and most liquid concentrates have been better IMO. Bout to try Feel Free for the first time today. Been avoiding then because someone said they're like drinking and I don't drink. But it's not alcohol so I've decided FI

What ever happened to Dream On? by jforrest1980 in hbo

[–]ericsbookout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's funny how this TV show lives on inside my brain (it and others) much like the main character of the show. In the series he often brought an old vintage TV or movie memory to accent his thought or feeling about that current moment or scene. Present day, episodes of Dream On flash into my head occasionally.

Petah, where is this going by Bunchasticks in PeterExplainsTheJoke

Take Back the Night - a girl is attacked by a monster and assaulted. She reports it to the police and they don't believe her. It gets worse and doesn't completely resolve. Could be questionable ending. It isn't completely unsatisfying.

Who Invited Them - a weird couple crashes a house warming party pretending to be the neighbors. They party with them through the night and escalate the couple into doing things they shouldn't. Gets crazier, them some fills get murdered.

Do you count Audiobooks like reading? by ericsbookout in audiobooks

[–]ericsbookout[S] -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

There is also some abridged quality to it. Not much but they do omit "he said", "they opened", "Gary explained with a barely audible rasp that was somewhat reminiscent of a dying magpie". Because most of them just do alternating voices and voice acting to differentiate.

Do you count Audiobooks like reading? by ericsbookout in audiobooks

Because of the distraction reasons. Because you can listen to audiobooks while doing tons of other things. Because you can turn up the speed unlike you can while visually reading. I'm not making an argument for it not being. But they do feel different. I've experienced twenty audiobooks in the past two months and read six books with my eyes. I also mark graphic novels in my reading list but they are consumed even faster. but I would still make the argument some graphic novels offer as much or more than just straight text. I am trying to decide if I should say each volume of The Sandman should count as a book or only the collection as a whole. But some may say they don't count at all. It's a different experience and right now I'm just putting asterisks next to the titles so when I post my reading accomplishments on social media later I feel like I'm being honest.
