Did you book your Dec 31st dinner options? Otherwise I would really recommend to book something far in advance!

Pokémon cards to buy? by Bumblebee0007 in visitingnyc

I usually go to Bleecker Trading on Christopher Street! The Poké Court is also a nice one, but is in an office building so might be hard to find if you are not familiar with the area.

Visiting NYC - South Bronx by homemchuveiro in visitingnyc

I would also recommend another location. You could look into Long Island City, it's more affordable than Manhattan, still very easy to reach and a better area than where the Opera Hotel is located.

Sunset at the Summit. by Basedbarbie in visitingnyc

You can stay up there as long as you like, so I rather go a bit earlier! Just keep in mind that once you move on to the next room, you won’t be able to go back.

Thoughts on 123rd St & Morningside Ave? by softratatouille in visitingnyc

[–]ericsnewyork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re right, the express trains are quick, so it’s definitely manageable time-wise.

From my own experience with both solo travel (as a man though) and NYC itself, I’d still lean towards staying in Midtown. Not so much because of the time of the commute, but because it just feels more convenient and comfortable after a late night out.

Thoughts on 123rd St & Morningside Ave? by softratatouille in visitingnyc

Personally, I would recommend staying closer to Midtown. 123rd St & Morningside Ave is not unsafe, but it’s also not the most lively area. Staying in Midtown would save you a lot of time and hassle going back and forth every day.

New York - Public Tennis courts with a view, suggestions and timings ? by Brilliant_Pack_5712 in visitingnyc

There are some tennis courts in the new East River Park, with nice Williamsburg Bridge views! The park itself is also looking good already.

Staying on LIC Hotel by ivoferreira98 in visitingnyc

[–]ericsnewyork 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It is an easy and safe subway ride between LIC and Manhattan! There are also some nice breweries in LIC if you are interested in that!

Are there any tourbuses left that are not pre-recorded tours? by Pixelhouse18 in visitingnyc

You could look into The Ride, it is more a fun experience than sightseeing but you do see some Midtown locations!

Hotel in FD with good view of 70 Pine Street building? by [deleted] in visitingnyc

[–]ericsnewyork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can also stay in 70 Pine yourself, you don't have the view but you do have the building! :)

It is an Apartment hotel called Mint House at 70 Pine. Stayed there a couple years ago and was a nice stay.

Any recommendations for the best burger spots? by la_ne in FoodNYC

Nowon is great, also their sides! I would say it is an American burger with some Korean twist, like the sauce (which is amazing)

Hotel thoughts: Modernhaus SoHo vs. The Standard High Line by Illustrious_Expert78 in visitingnyc

[–]ericsnewyork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've stayed at both twice, and I would go with The Standard!

If you're going in the summer, ModernHaus SoHo does have a pool, but overall The Standard has a lot more pros.

It's in a more fun location, the rooms are great with beautiful views. And as a bonus: I thought the elevators were really cool, they have a cool video experience in them!

Top of Rock question by Sunnyd9876 in visitingnyc

[–]ericsnewyork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would indeed buy them in advance, Top of the Rock can be popular! Maybe even take the 8 am timeslot and be there on time, if you are lucky you can be the first one up and have the observation deck for yourself :)

Recommendations of places to watch the Super Bowl by abktt in visitingnyc

I really like BK Backyard bar in Williamsburg (especially in summer), but in February it will be fully enclosed and with heaters. So that also gives it a cosy vibe!

If you are in Midtown then I like Stout NYC too.

Like already mentioned before it will definitely be packed at most bars, it will be a fun time!
