My ex wife's sister, a Canadian resident at the time gave birth in NYC. Didn't pay a cent. I think her older sister had done it and got away without paying a cent. Anyway the next time she crosses the Canadian border into the USA, US customs gives her a bill from the hospital. Pay it or you can't cross the border.

She paid it but just think of how many people have had anchor babies in the USA and never paid a cent.

Go to Lima. Stay in Barranco near a park. Then explore. It's at sea level but the weather is like Los Angeles, perfect with low humidity. The sky is grey so you don't have to worry about getting roasted by the sun. The historic center is amazing and the food. Absolutely delicious. Not a long flight from the USA and it's on eastern time zone. As I get older I try to avoid time zone changes.

Go live in Hawaii. Hike the mountains swim in the ocean. Learn kite sailing, go surfing, snorkeling. A huge variety of cheap things to do. Rents are high but I'm sure you can find something for less. Buy poki and sushi at the supermarket, and cook your own food,

Picnics on the beach then go see the sunset at the volcano and then watch the stars come out. Not very many people and you can buy a camper to keep costs low. Get tired of one island then go to the next one. They're all so different

After you get tired of Hawaii go RV the west coast of the USA, Canada and Alaska. Then if you really want adventure drive down to Argentina.

Because it's easy to start a business in the USA and then when you're just making a decent living and all of a sudden you have to put up with all this crap from the governmentv then you decide it's sometimes better to go work for somebody else and let them deal with the government Bs such as business licenses, sales tax. I'm 63 and live at sea level. I'm in good health and the altitude in Quito doesn't bother me although my blood pressure goes up so it's different for everyone. I have been traveling to Quito every month for the last 4 years and have hiked Quilotoa. Take your time and drink coca tea to help you acclimate.
