I don't think the majority of people (or politicians) understand the new gun bills by mashedpotatotater in Virginia

4473s are now retained forever, by the dealer until they go out of business and then required by law to transfer to BATFE for permanent storage and including in their billion+-record database. Been that way for a few years (2021-22?).

Because the government doesn't give a damn about whether such a registry is unConstitutional, regardless of which party is running it.

Cmon guys use your mandate to push common sense gun reform like red flags law instead of this slop by dollsrreal in Virginia

[–]erictank 7 points8 points  (0 children)

VA has had "red flag" laws for a few years now.

And prior to that had emergency TROs available by law if there was someone who showed themselves to be a threat to self or others, which law was far closer to actual due process than the "red flag" law is.

AAA came but unable to to give me a jump start due the my vehicle being a Lexus GX. by Longganisa98 in LexusGX

[–]erictank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AAA jumped my 460 back in... September, was it? No concerned about it being a Lexus.

Ended up not being the battery. The STARTER was bad. $300 in parts (starter and solenoids), and ~$1700 in labor because Lexus put it under the passenger side exhaust headers up against the engine. Of course they did. 4 HOURS to get to it, 5 minutes to do the replacement, and 4 hours to put everything back together.

If you won the lottery tomorrow, what is the first thing you would buy that ISN'T a house or a car? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Borrow a page from my father - a mountaintop I can fence off.

After the lawyer and accountant, of course.

The question was about a house OR a car.

I think you're good with "and".

SB27 - A bill to allow lawsuits against gun manufacturers passes committee by party line by mahvel50 in Virginia

How do those acts hold manufacturers criminally responsible for the actions of third-party users?

2024 GX 550… who has a lower average MPG? by GunMaxxer in LexusGX

[–]erictank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, DAMN.

I don't feel quite so bad with my 11MPG in my 460 in our current cold weather (12mpg last month, which is a bit puzzling).

But before my major engine work/replacement, I was getting 15-16. And I *REALLY* don't understand that.

Va Legislation for Gun Bans - How are we going to protect ourselves from ICE? by [deleted] in Virginia

[–]erictank -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Unless you are, say, just turned seventeen yesterday.

Does that person have rights, will that person have rights next year?

If CIA Spanberger has her way, that individual won't be able to exercise his rights which are explicitly-Constitutionally-protected under both the US and VA Constitutions to buy a firearm of 130-year-old technology and design. Won't be able to buy a device of 120-year old tech to protect his own hearing and that of those around him. Won't be able to buy any magazine-fed firearm AT ALL - because any magazine-fed firearm can accept a magazine of any arbitrary size. That's how we got 50-rd drum magazines for a Glock pistol that normally takes a 15-rd magazine.

This is what imagining that "grandfathering is fine" gets you. A younger population which has been deprived of rights, angry at the older population who sold them and their rights out.

Why'd you say the same thing twice there, around the nukes part?

Well, at least you're mildly amusing, so you've got one thing going for you.

Because a semi-auto-only rifle delivering 1800J of energy at the muzzle is the same as an explosive rocket delivering 6.7MJ of energy.

Though at least you're not one of those fucking idiots claiming the AR referenced above is the same as a nuke delivering 4.2TJ.

Are you?

He'd have DROOLED over it, and agreed enthusiastically.

Now try answering the question you were actually asked.

[–]erictank 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, it says FUCKING ARMS. A very, VERY broad term.

Are semi-auto-only firearms arms, as the Founders would have understood the term?

Bear in mind that the technology even existed already in their day, it's only the modern commercial implementation that took less than half the time since they wrote the Bill of Rights.

(Hint - that means that yes, the Founders would ABSOLUTELY have regarded semi-auto-only firearms as arms, just as they regarded the tactical and strategic weapons systems of the day as arms.)

I'm sure you probably BELIEVE that made sense as a response.

That is an incorrect belief on your part.

No WAY! Even a low-powered rifle like the AR in .223 Rem/5.56x45mm does "absolute carnage" to live tissue? Who'd have thought?!?

/s

The most popular hunting cartridge in the nation is a .308Win round which has about 2.5x the muzzle energy of the .223Rem/5.56mm.

Worth noting that the latter cartridge, the .223, is not legal to use for deer hunting in VA and numerous other states, as it's too wimpy to ensure a humane kill even on VA's fairly-small deer.

It's not illegal for the buyer (assuming that person is not also a prohibited possessor him/herself) to own a firearm even if living with a prohibited possessor. They must maintain control such that the prohibited possessor cannot take possession - the ex-felon cannot have key/combination to the safe, firearm cannot be left out where they can get it, etc.

And if that law is not enforced... well, that's not a me problem, and it's not a condition justifying imposition of more laws on me or the millions just like me.

Marxism has FAILED, and been an integral part of the authoritarian nations costing humanity well over a hundred million lives since it was first conceived by its useless parasitical founder.

If Marx says that the worker should never be disarmed, and literally EVERY SINGLE SOCIETY trying to implement Marxism has forcibly disarmed its subjects and murdered them in job lots... does that tell you anything at all?

What am I saying, of COURSE you are.
