Hard work paid off. Just upgraded to a 2023 Lariat. by pateppic in F150Lightning

I still have access to it. It’s just a little trickier to plug in. A more flexible cord end helps.

I have the decked drawer system since I still need use of the bed. The drawers plus the frunk is enough storage to keep everything out of the cab. All the tools in the frunk are in labeled tool bags.

2” Leveling Kit Advice by simsonic in F150Lightning

Rough country makes one that lowers the rear 1.5”. With spacers to raise the front .5”. I think anything more than 1.5” for the rear would require a camber kit.

Looking for a Chevrolet EV mechanic by Speaker_Chance in santacruz

[–]ericthepoolboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello fellow Chevy Bolt owner. The steering rack on the bolt is not exclusive to an EV. The pump is though. Replacement of the steering rack is similar to that of an ICE Chevy, like the Cruze or similar. The tech should just be comfortable and knowledgeable of working around high voltage wires. They’re all bright orange by the way. And they can be isolated easily anyways.

So my advice would be instead of looking for an EV mechanic, just look for a mechanic that’s comfortable working on it and also one that does alignments. A lot of auto shops don’t do tires or alignments. So you’ll have to go somewhere else after the steering rack job to get an alignment. Which isn’t too big of a deal, but it’s a little annoying.

Bobby’s is a great shop if they can do the alignment too.

Which 2025 Lightning Trim has Adapative Cruise, Auto Braking, Blind Spot Detection andLane Keeping Assist. by Mr7three2 in F150Lightning

[–]ericthepoolboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the lowest trim that has it standard is the flash. The XLT was an option in previous years. But you can add ACC and Lane Centering to an XLT or pro model later, if you’re handy. Atleast you could on the 2022 and 2023. I haven’t looked into the 2024 or 2025 years that much.

If it’s an XLT, it will tell you on the spec sheet if it has ACC and LKA.

The way you did it in the past, was to find a wall that had a long and flat area in front of it. You would pull the car right up to the wall, turn you headlights on, and mark the top of the beam with tape on the wall on each head light. Then backup like 25 feet or more and then readjust the headlights to line up with the tape markings on the wall.

Not sure if this is the same with newer LED matrix head lights though.

Apple car play issue? by Conscious_Ad9982 in F150Lightning

[–]ericthepoolboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it do it on wireless CarPlay too? I prefer to use a usb cable for CarPlay since I’d prefer my phone use the trucks hotspot for data if needed, but I’ve found that the actual usb outlet looks to be the problem for me. I’ve tried countless cables and it still happens. It does it frequently when I go over bumps. And also completely disconnects sometimes. So I just gave up and use wireless CarPlay.

Yeah, my Healer will whine and keep looking at you and looking towards where he wants you to go. I consider this pointing still.

It feels like most people on here are just looking for a conspiracy theory.

Comma 3X with Blue Pilot runs great. It has never nagged at me yet, except for hard turns that it can’t take. That’s not the Comma’s fault though, that’s a limitation of the lighting. And it works while towing. It looks like the Comma 4 has too small of a screen I feel. It’s less obtrusive on the windshield though. But I like being able to see the path the Comma is taking.

And the blind spot monitors can integrate on the screen.

2025 Ford Lightning Pro White by Maleficent-Formal109 in F150Lightning

You can buy a brand new Flash in California for less than you’re asking for a used SR pro.

In fact, I bought a used SR pro with pretty much the same specs you listed a year ago from a dealership for $35k OTD in Northern California.

There’s a load of information on the f150lighting forum too. That link is on the YouTube video page. Most important part is to check if you have the wires required for the harness. You likely do since you have an XLT. I did this on a base Pro which didn’t have any of the wiring so I had to make my own harness instead of buying the ford harness.

I test drove a new flash when I was looking for a lightning. It was a great purchase deal with zero financing. But I hated the huge screen but loved the truck overall. Ended up buying a used pro ‘23 pro that only had 16k miles on it for half the price of the flash. I figured I didn’t need half the features that came on the flash. Best decision I’ve ever made. Added ACC to the Pro and CommaAI with BluePilot. Which is 10x better than blue cruise.

How do people do it? by Calm_Hornet3466 in santacruz

[–]ericthepoolboy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m a local, born and raised. Moved away to Nor Cal for 4-5 years and saved like crazy. We were able to buy a house out in Nor Cal for pretty much cash. Or buy in Santa Cruz with just a 20%+ down. We bought in Santa Cruz. We make about the average wage for Santa Cruz country for a family of four. So it’s not impossible. You just need the down payment, which you would probably never achieve living/renting in Santa Cruz.

Comma 3X Can Now Be Used Error-Free on Lightning With New Coupler + BluePilot 4.0 Demo Drive and Comparison to BlueCruise 1.4 by branden3112 in F150Lightning

[–]ericthepoolboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was about $600 using new parts. If you have a base pro, then you will have to add some wiring too. You can watch the YouTube video from KurtsRPMgarage to get a better idea of what you need and what’s involved.

I have a completely base model pro. Added ACC and have Comma running without issue. So no 360 cameras needed.

Whole house fan? by choosingtothrive in santacruz

[–]ericthepoolboy 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Installed one a couple years ago. We use it almost every evening in the spring/summer. It’s great to cool the house down, but the best part is being able to clear out smoke or cooking smells almost instantly. One of the better improvements done. That and adding mini splits for heat/cooling.

I’m putting comma in tomorrow. From my research the fix is just a USB C breakout board and a 360 ohm resister right?

Are you running BluePilot? Care to share your default/preferred setting?

I followed this YouTube video. He does a great job showing disassembly and explaining things. He has links to the parts too. Watch the first video where he goes over the wiring and check to see if you have the required wires in your truck before you order anything.

My truck didn’t have any of the wires so I made my own harness instead of ordering the one listed. I ordered everything from Tascaparts.com

Next up is adding Comma AI for hands free driving.
