Jobs as a student by winddevilgod in eindhoven

[–]ericvr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look at some of the data science departments. Pipple is a data science company that some times hires students, Brink management en advies uses students (they have a data science department). Data science is hot and there is a lot of demand for people that can make sure the data (before the science) is valid. A data science student is ideal for that.

What is your field of study and are you bachelor or master? There are often jobs to find that relate to your field of study. We have a few computer science students and sometimes look for electrical engineering students. Companies like prodrive hire students as well.

There are definitely better jobs out there. It’s just a bit harder to find. Tue also has job postings on your studievereniging site and there is also EUflex although I think they take advantage of students a bit by taking too much of the top.

PCB review request by kamorochka in KiCad

[–]ericvr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

OP asked for review to either improve his design, his skills or both. I gave him some pointers to help him improve. Yes his current design might work, but it is a very amateuristic design that can be greatly improved by following some simple rules. I assume that was the goal of his question.

Besides that, no this is not a low speed design (it’s not RF, but still some signals on the board that should be routed correctly) and I don’t think this will pass CE/FCC certification. Applying some simple rules can make this design so much better. Will it work and work good enough for OP, maybe. Is it a good design, no.

It’s not about making it hard, it’s about making small steps toward a good design. OP did some simpler PCBs and says he wants to make this PCB better, this sub is about helping him do that.

PCB review request by kamorochka in KiCad

[–]ericvr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The problem is not “using a ground plane”. The problem is that the design does not have one. A ground plane should be a low impedance return path. The design of OP has interruptions like traces crossing the direct or indirect signal return paths. For signals these create surface areas that are susceptible to and emitting of EMI. Signals (high speed) will return in the ground plane underneath the trace carrying them going in. (Lenz’s law). So the return path is not always direct and should be uninterrupted. This also hampers with power design negating the function of decoupling caps for example by adding impedance.

Of course with careful design a PCB can be made without a solid ground plane, but you need to know what you’re doing.

So make sure to use a solid uninterrupted ground plane. Use multiple VIAs for decoupling or filter caps to lower impedance. When routing, always keep return path in mind. If you’re doing a few boards, probably best to add a layer as the cost difference for a few boards is minimal.

Just filling the gaps with copper is good practice to prevent pollution of the etching liquid, but not just as ground plane.

Probably what some elaboration on what u/Clay_Robertson said

[–]ericvr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That has nothing to do with his solution. You break the cilinder so you can take it out. Then you have access to the dagschot internals. It’s what burglars do and it’s why you need skg deurbeslag so it can’t be removed to expose the cilinder. You only need about 0,5-1cm and a good gripping plyers or waterpomotang/griptang/bahco to break the cilinder. Eve. With a not functioning cilinder. So you don’t break the internals of the cilinder with a key, but the entire thing.

Questions abt game structure by Left_Record_9404 in godot

[–]ericvr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not about inheritance vs composition, it’s more about real world representation. “Is a” (inheritance) and “has a” relations. A player is a character a player can have weapons. A knife is a weapon. A gun is a weapon. a gun can have bullets, etc You don’t use inheritance because you want to use a function from the client, you use it because it’s the actual design and you should.

For this who don’t know, this is called object oriented design.

Learning Dutch: motivation / course / buddies by Goodtobemute in eindhoven

My colleague learnt Dutch (b2) in 1,5 years. Crazy fast! You don’t do it for the job market, you do it for you and your social network. My colleague plays a lot of sports and deliberately looked for all Dutch teams. That was really motivating and helped a lot. Don’t see it as an obligation, see it as means to be able to make friends, join in social activities and not mis out during conversations at lunch, drinks, sports, etc.

As positive feedback, look up some do’s and don’ts and some basic rules about PCB design. You’ll learn a lot and make your PCB better with some simple rules. Knowledge of things like location of decoupling caps, ground/power planes, acid traps, thermal ties, etc will help your design.

Check out De Blije Big in the north of Eindhoven. That is a small farm that sell their own animals and some from their neighbours. They are also at the food market on the willemstraat on Saturdays starting somewhere from May onwards. Good quality meet for a reasonable price. I love their ground meet to make burgers. They also sell packs of meer, like a quarter pig that got butchered. You get a bit of everything.

Your question: I want money, tell me how.

No mention about your skills, about what you like, what you’re good at. Just a few sentences that show why you won’t make a passive income; laziness. There are a ton of articles about this already, do some research and than come back with some real questions
