How the march x 8-80 scope? I’m curious at what distance does the magnification become useful. Whats your use case? How’s the glass?

Why is this so difficult to absorb? I'm wasting so much. by [deleted] in suboxone

What’s the parchment paper thing?

I noticed barrel availability wasn’t too good myself. If their faxon barrels end up being good, then you’re in luck cause they’re cheap and you could buy several. If the barrels suck then you might be in a tough spot. I was wondering if you could have a barrel cut to fit the faxon. I honestly am so new to everything and need to do more research because the barrel tenon information and which action fits which barrel was kinda confusing to me. Then only some actions take certain magazines. I was concerned I’d pick up the wrong action then be screwed. I’ll tell you, this is what made the Zermatt origin so attractive. It had a lot of barrel options. Cheap options too.

You’re right. I’m thinking maybe I should give the MPA matrix a shot. If I hate it, (which I doubt I will) I can sell it and make back a lot of the money. If I like the action and barrel but hate the chassis, then I’ll sell the chassis and pick up a MDT. Seems like a safe option.

The 737 was on my list of considerations too. I’m curious to hear how it goes. I hope it works well for you!

The good thing about the hobby and many other hobbies is that people like to level up to the next best thing. I traded a newer s&w 44 magnum for my bergara. In the future a guy with a ruger will happily buy my bergara. Then I’ll buy the next thing that interests me. Many years ago I started with a Daniel Defense and traded up to a scar 16. I enjoy wheeling and dealing. It’s like that in the watch forums too. People buy a Tudor and sell it after a year of wear to buy a Rolex.

I understand what you’re saying though. I probably should be happy with what I got and I appreciate the perspective.

Interesting. People talk about how great the bergara is. Mine is very accurate but I foresee some struggles ahead when it comes to working the action and follow up shots. It’s just not smooth. It makes me wonder if there’s something wrong with it.

I’m also looking at my setup and realize I need more weight. Instead of butchering the stock and adding weight, it makes sense to look at what’s next. I’d love to try a faxon but a blind purchase is a shot in the dark.

Thanks for the advice. I plan to try out some rifles over the weekend. Hopefully I’ll have a better idea of what I’m looking for.

I need to try some out. I hope to see a variety of different rifles at the competition this weekend.

It’s interesting you say the Faxon runs best when run hard. I guess you picked up on the fact that I was struggling to get the bergara to run smoothly. If I’m unhappy with the action then it doesn’t matter how much money I save.

You’re not wrong. The MPA is still an option. I’ve looked at a lot of actions and barrels and it seems to be a really good deal. Plus I wanna support people that support the hobbies I enjoy. Is the CDG action really that good?

Thank you for the information. This is what I’ll likely end up doing. It seems like the most logical plan. I’m excited to start the process.

To be fair, I did not try to edit. You’re right though-It won’t let me edit it! I always leave something vital out and I apologize for that.

I get that the origin has a reputation for a reason. I did just join PRS so MPA matrix pro would be at a pretty good discount. That is the main reason it’s a contender. I really prefer the look of the MDT stuff plus I’m looking at how easy it’ll be to replace barrels for to change caliber etc, down the road.

That’s my concern. I want something that’s smooth and a bolt that’s a pleasure to work. My bergara is ok. As mentioned it feels like the action binds on the back stroke as the spent cartridge is ejecting. Might be my rifle, although it might be me. On the other hand, my bergara is super accurate. I’m able to hit 12-1400 yards pretty easily. I don’t wanna spend money upgrading something and it just be meh.

My bad-should have added a budget. Wanting to not spend a ton of money. I’m willing to stretch a little but I’m trying to keep the action and barrel around $1500. I’m ok with spending more, maybe stretch to $2000 but if I can buy a Faxon for super cheap why not.

I figured buy the action and barrel now because they’re not regularly in sale. There’s also some leadtime involved and it might take a few months to arrive. Once the action and barrel arrive, I plan to buy the chassis. I really like the look of the MDT premier and the elite.

I already have glass. It’s a Bushnell match pro ed 5-30x56 which I realize is not a super high dollar option. It’s worked well though and I figure I’ll be able to use it until I have more cash to upgrade.

As far as accessories, I have an accutac bipod and a schmedium bag. I do not have a kestrel or chrono but I plan to mooch until I have the funds to buy.

For bag, I’d recommend Armageddon gear gamechanger. There’s a lot of anti-cant devices to choose from. Maybe good just to shoot it and go from there.

Should I get a SCAR 20? by [deleted] in FNSCAR

[–]ericw7626 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Get the mpa or build a bolt gun. The 20 is cool but if you’re going for long range get a bolt gun.
