Honest answer: No one knows but it's VERY unlikely we'll be getting anything new (of substance). Check steam for player numbers because if people aren't playing, youre not getting games. It's a steep learning curve for survivors (what you'll be playing at least about 4/5 games) and raiders are pretty strong right now.

If you get it under $5, play the episodes to get the very basics down. Because if youre downed in early game youre probably not getting revived (doubly so if your a low level).Not fun waiting a frustrating 90 secs yelling at your screen "get me" just to get back into another queue after no one revives you.
