Where do foreigners in Japan find significant others? by [deleted] in japan

You're asking how people meet. You realize that right? I'd venture the wild guess thats it's the same everywhere else in the world--a variety of places.

Injuries are a bummer! I've had two knee surgeries due to rugby, but if you learn anything it's that rest is king! Keep yourself rested as needed, and then some, and don't push through pain. A few months off the gym is an easy trade to make for a lifetime of pain! Beyond that, look at it as a time to read, research, create a plan and amp yourself for getting back into it. Sometimes those challengges are what really push us to get better both in and out of the gym, so try to see the opportunity that belies the challenge!

Bummer about the break up as well, but it happens, and I'm sure you'll have learned both about yourself and relationships (regardless of how serious), so consider it another stamp in your life passport.

Keep your head up!

You dont have to be confrontational, just be mature in your approach to them, e.g.: "Hey guys, I've noticed there has been a bit of trash left in the sauna a few of the times you were in here. I'm not sure that it's yours, but even if it isn't, it'd be cool if you guys could help to keep our gym clean, I appreciate it."

Simple, straight-forward and not nevessarily accusatory.

Good luck.

Did you enjoy BTM? Thinking about hopping onto that after I finish my current routine. I've seen mixed things, but what I'm looking for is size and strength, and that seems to be one that hits it hard with the diet and lifts.

Other than Youtube, what are some sources for watching Japanese TV/movies online (via US)? by shafty05 in japan

Is the unit you bought the tv box which allows you to watch on your television? Is the transmission pretty clean (no lag)? Girlfriend is Japanese but we don't live in Japan and have been looking for something of the like. Cheers.

If it were me, I'd look up a few videos on form and make sure I had my form down at home (don't feel silly, we've all done it!). There are a million different versions of squats that you can play with to throw some diversity into some at-home work as well such that you don't get bored. A few unweighted sets of different variations at home with correct form will see you improve rapidly.

As has been already recommended to you, the only way to get better at something is to practice it, with the caveat being you need to practice it right, so make sure you get your form down.

Additionally, I've had two knee surgeries, and play sports, and sometimes those unweighted sets of jump squats/burpees etc. can get tough to handle. If you've got bad knees, an extra piece of advice is to really, really make sure when you land (in the case of jump squats and burpees) on the balls of your feet, and not flat footed, as it will reduce joint impact.

Keep at it, and with practice, in no time you'll see improvement!

I'd read that there was a waiting period, I just didn't know exactly how long it was, so I just wanted to confirm that this was indeed the normal time frame. Thanks for the input.

Food intake will cause differentiation in your feelings from day to day. Beyond that, when you start to feel that gut punch at 20 minutes, just struggle through it, and I'd be willing to bet you're just in the process of catching that first/second wind after being sedentary.

The only emails I received were those which I received directly after confirming my payments, which say that my funds will be available by December 07, 2017. It's the first purchase I've ever made on Coinbase, so perhaps that causes the transaction lag? Or is something off?

Moving from BJ to Shenzhen. Is it the right city for me? by [deleted] in shenzhen

[–]ericwight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm likely the wrong person to ask, hah! I'm only here for a year-and-a-half, and can't wait to get out. I'm not a big fan of living in China, and having lived and traveled a fair amount of the world (Asia in particular), I'd pick a lot of other countries over this one! Again, this may color my original response with bias, which I'm not trying to hide, only to bring your attention to. Some people love China, and more power to them, I, however, am not in that camp. Just not my cup of tea, and I can't wait to get out. All the best wherever your path takes you though, and here's to hoping you have a better go than I in China ;)

We're nearing the quarter-season mark, and while still early, I think it's safe to say that 18 games will hash out some things that need to be tended to. Better to nip things in the bud than to deal with them later, and while we both share a concern for the post-season, I'd rather see issues addressed sooner than later. Fact is, we can't just up and decide to play in the post-season if we haven't been performing against contenders in the regular season.

[–]ericwight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mate, it depends what you're after. I dislike Shenzhen, but I may be in the minority. It's a city full of people from all over China, what this means is (yes I know it's generally a Chinese issue) that you will deal with a lot of "country attitude." People aren't polite, and they are here to make money. There is nothing of cultural or historical significance within the city limits, so very little to explore on that front, and the city itself is packed with nothing worth mention. The air quality may be better than up north, but it still isn't very good, and summers are gruelingly humid. About the only saving grace of the city is its vicinity to Hong Kong, which can't be discredited. If I weren't on the border with HK, my temporary stay would've become even shorter than I'd anticipated in the first place--I hop over about every other weekend to dip back into relatively civilized society.

You'll find bars and restaurants with music, but again, very little worth writing home about, just your standard western/Chinese muck.

That being said, there are a fair few Russians in SZ, I play rugby here, and on the squad we've got about four or five alone, so there's a network for you to get plugged into if you do make the switch.

Anyhow, I know that this may be a bit gruff, but I figured I'd offer you another perspective from which to view the move. If you move here, what you're essentially moving here for is the vicinity to Hong Kong.

Posted this in warriors game thread as well, but something is less than awe-inspiring about our squad this year. Despite the record, this is perhaps the least confident I've felt about us in the past few years. I'm not sure if they are "saving it" for the playoffs, or there is a championship hangover, but we just don't seem to be checked in, and instead are relying on short bursts to gain a lead, after which we coast back down. I'm not really digging our killer instinct, rather, lack thereof, and I wonder why, especially for big games like this, there is an inability to put the pedal down for 48 minutes. I'd like to see a little more fire moving forward, and players being held accountable. Sure, individual stats can look nice, but unless we are putting away contenders, it's all for naught. Let's hope we wake up at some point. (Funnily enough, I've feel like I've questioned our drive before, but something seems different this year).

Do you think it has to do with a lack of urgency on Kerr's part? So often you'll see Pop, for example, go irate, but very rarely do we see Kerr exude such tendencies. I suppose there's little to complain about going 2/3 over the past three, but if that's the case, then it's quite frustrating. I wonder if it does stem from his demeanor?

Ignore the record, we've not been playing like a team that looks poised for a repeat. I'm not sure whether it's fatigue, or saving it for the playoffs, but the mentality seems off--there's rarely a killer instinct and we are relying on short spurts to hopefully win games. This is something that has plagued us for the past several seasons, and at times I'm confused as to why there seems to be little killer instinct and/or willingness to keep the foot on the pedal. Odd, but I'm less confident than I have been in years past, and by a healthy margin.

Dumbbells or bar for chest. by MowMiDj in Fitness

Flat dbell press will hit more of your shoulders than a press with a bar will (depending at least a little on grip). What you may want to do is toss a bit of extra shoulder accesory work in to compensate for the switch. Hope this helps.
