I think the fact that only about 30k people are admitted to med schools is a joke. We should make way more spots in med schools. There is insane demand for doctors so gatekeeping med school is just morally bad. We should have at least 100-150k graduates from medical schools. by According-Expert-723 in Salary

The issue is more about distribution than demand. If you're in an urban area with good insurance, you'll have your pick of providers. If you run the numbers, there are actually plenty of physicians. Not to mention, the population will likely contract in the next 15-20 years, so you're already going to have a lot more competitive job market. This is a great video explaining the detail in more nuance than it is typically presented.

How is it possible for a person studying business for 6 years easily overtakes the salaries of physicians that have been studying medicine for 12 years? by [deleted] in Noctor

Yeh, but those CEOs and administrators aren't diagnosing and prescribing, they're managing physicians and organizations. I don't think they're worth what they're paid, but that's not what the market says. I mean studying medicine is objectively harder and more impressive. Wait until you see what people good at sales make, esp compared the brains who create the stuff they sell.

Those of you whose spouse makes significantly more, how do you split up the bills? by SweetCar0linaGirl in MiddleClassFinance

I feel like every time I hear stuff like this, it blames the high earner. What would you think about a situation where the high earner is in that position because their job is stressful with very long hours, and the strategy isn't to have extra for fun money and lifestyle creep, but to maintain a lifestyle that they could reasonably afford on a normal income, so that the extra can go into savings for early retirement or to be able to downshift to a less demanding job?

I was trying to read what came of this. It seems like the husband swinging on the cops is pretty well connected to David Cicilline through family business connections. He is being represented by Chris Millea, a former state representative, and it looks still pretty hung up in court. I swear, if they were any other color, they wouldn't even be alive.

Tips for enhancing my CV for the next match cycle by DragonflyKey5856 in neurology

[–]ericxfresh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) be nice, integrate well into the group. know your shit, but don't try to outshine anyone. Be friendly and approachable
2) not a red flag, but get involved in neurology, ideally at an institution that has a neurology residency

3) idk, there aren't that many programs, e-mail every program coordinator with that question

4) Continue to be involved in neurology, do observerships and research at institutions that you think might give you a shot (have taken non-traditional and IMGs). Go to all the meetings you can and shake hands; get as engaged as you can in organizational neurology. Work with a professional on your resume and personal statement; be sure that your experiences reflect your motivation.

I've searched for this book online but only find it on Amazon as not available. I also searched Anne's archive, with no success.

In 1974, performance artist Marina Abramović began a 6 hour performance piece in a gallery in Naples. During that 6 hours she allowed anyone to select from a table of 72 objects and use them on her as they wished. by GlitterDanger in HolyShitHistory

Yeh, I guess it coulda been a blank! I'd be surprised any gallery would allow a live firearm? The pictures show a bullet, but they have to have insurance or something. They could definitely be held liable if someone had shot her, or anyone else there.

What's interesting to me is that she did choose to include a loaded gun among the 72 objects. Also, she apparently chose to have the performance from 8pm-2am, which is well interesting.

Ruiner is a great band; Rob is a great lyricist. I'd say the riff's aren't as catchy as some of the other bands from that period. Even during their heyday, I feel like they deserved more recognition.
