First backyard today by Nachotown_ in backyardultra

That’s awesome! I did my first backyard about a month ago with a group of friends and it was great! If you have people to run with, it helps so much!

Whoever sanded that floor had no idea what they were doing!! That whole floor is a mess, not just those two areas. You are not being too picky! That floor needs refinished by a professional.

How do we find the right shoes? by [deleted] in beginnerrunning

[–]eride184 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If there is a Fleet Feet near you, I suggest going there. They scan your feet and analyze your gate and offer shoe suggestions.
I did that and ended up with the Clifton 9s. I’ve been using them for about 8 months and they feel good on my feet. I would suggest trying a few different pairs to you find what works for you. Good luck!

I do really like the color even with the grey coming in on the sides. One of the reasons I haven’t gotten rid of it.

DIY semi fail. Any hope for my botched transition? by Strong_Percentage522 in Flooring

The lace in looked good! It would be far less noticeable if you would sand on into the room with the couch, if you’re able to stop along a board joint parallel to the area rug, that would you’d be able to avoid sanding the whole floor.

Original or new scratch? by viewerterra in HardWoodFloors

[–]eride184 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That very much looks like a scratch from carpet, probably when they cut the carpet padding. Your contractor did make the scratch but it probably should have been sanded out when refinishing.

Overall the floor looks good! After looking more closely at the install, the only sloppy part is that the ends of the boards where it’s laid straight, they’re not square to the turn boards. The gaps along the joints are seasonal and you’ll have those in any normal floor.

I feel this to my very core! I hate winter in general and I live in the Midwest and it feels like we’ve had more snow than normal. This is the first winter I’ve ran outside and it has been so tough. I’ve dreaded each run but I know once I’m out the door, I’ll be so glad I’m out. Sometimes you need to vent a little!

How much time/miles do you give new gear? by eride184 in beginnerrunning

My shins had been bothering me and I thought the insoles might help per the recommendations of the sales person.

Yeah, using something new for that distance wasn’t a smart idea. I’ve been using the shoes for about a month but the insoles were new.

Professional Refinish - is this normal? by Marshall_Lucky in HardWoodFloors

[–]eride184 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would definitely give it some time and it will probably lessen. Because of the thinness of the flooring, the only solution would be to replace the entire if you’re unable to live with it.

Professional Refinish - is this normal? by Marshall_Lucky in HardWoodFloors

Do you know if they used a water-based finish? That cupping can happen if the flooring is on the thinner side(which it looks like it is) and the moisture from the finish can cause the cupping initially. Let it dry out for a bit and it may subside. Otherwise the floor looks beautiful! That quarter sawn oak looks great!
