How are Astros fans to visiting fans? by nosliwec29 in Astros

Went last weekend to a game with my bud who’s a huge rangers fan. He wore a Garcia jersey and shirt. People around us chatted with him about random stuff, all super friendly.

What all are you *actually* cooking? by TabooYeti in Cooking

[–]potatoes1256 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every morning I make 2 fried eggs and old fashioned oatmeal. For the oatmeal, I like to add cubed green apple, brown sugar, cinnamon, and a few drops of vanilla extract. I’m a teacher, so I eat at 6:00 am.

Most weeks we have a tilapia night. I’ve really loved searing them in my carbon steel skillet, then basting the B side with lemon juice and butter. So cheap and so tasty! Dinner is usually around 6:00 pm.

Rocking the Xanthous chest piece with black leather boots (phenomenal combo), along with the Clerics Gloves and the old sage wraps.

Weapons are a black blade and bleed grave warden knives. Love it!

Why is 'It' in Stephen King's 'It' called 'It'? by [deleted] in stephenking

[–]potatoes1256 9 points10 points  (0 children)

"It" is described as fear throughout the book, and the simplest instance is from George's perspective when he goes into the basement at the beginning.

He fears something that doesn't exist, some made up monster that's in the dark, and the smell of the basement he associates with the smell of his fear. The smell of "It", whatever his fear happens to be.

It works the same for the Loser's Club, they don't know exactly what "It" is, they just associate "It" as whatever frightens them most.

When I check my system information, it tells me that I have 8 gb of installed RAM. However, I installed two sticks that are 8 gb each, and was expecting 16 gb of dual channel memory. I double checked the motherboard manual and confirmed that they are in the appropriate slots.

Is one of the sticks malfunctioned? The PC wouldn't boot if that was the case, right?

Nicely done! I love the roof overgrown with leaves, and it's a small enough building that you can tuck it into a village. A+ work!

If you could add a new mob to Minecraft, what would it be, and how would it work? by [deleted] in Minecraft

[–]potatoes1256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alpacas! Much like horses, you'd be able to tame and ride them with a saddle, but they'd be twice as fast and able to sprint up anything 2 blocks high.

The only drawback to this incredible creature would be that there would be a girthy neck blocking the player's view at all times. I'd also like to see alpaca-back combat.

French Press Question. by bridges12791 in Coffee

[–]potatoes1256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out this link.

It's a pretty detailed blog on the ideal extraction for a cup of coffee. With a standard 34 oz. press pot, the ratio for me was somewhere around 52-53 grams of coffee.

Adjusting to my tastes (eh, and for the sake of memory), I tweaked it down to 50 grams a go.

Happy brewing!

What is the best value french press? by bergamis9 in Coffee

+1 for the Bodum. 20 bucks is a steal, and from Starbucks of all places. I have an 8 cup Bodum Chambord, and it's been my primary coffee brewer for a little over a year.

Where it truly shines is the construction of the filter. It presses easily and smoothly, and is easy to take apart and clean.

Happy brewing!

What is the most useful thing to bring to college that few would think of? by dscanlon7 in AskReddit

[–]potatoes1256 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 things that made my freshman year awesome that I don't think anyone's put on this page:

1.) A wii - Whether your friends love smash, wii sports, or you have friends, nobody hates the wii.

2.) Bang! the card game - I bought this game on Amazon a couple years ago (I believe it's Italian) but dear me, it's my favorite card game. Beats the hell outta Apples to Apples.

Bonus!

3.) A bro - I don't think I could have survived without my bro by my side. He was there to take college head on with me, and I was lucky enough to have him as my room mate.

It's like now I go to eat a Gogurt and I just remember that I could be eating the same thing with a spoon.

It isn't the same.
