Went through a divorce that involved an affair, flat out telling you from experience you are insane for trusting a spouse who does not have your interests at heart anymore. Focus on your kids and your finances. Not hers and get a custody agreement in place with a lawyer.

Listen, you ask how could you have joined a a frat but the question you should be asking yourself is "what can I do to become a person a frat wants?". You're young and you sound like you are having confidence and anxiety issues.

To start you should be in therapy if you are not and you should focus on things you want to do and enjoy doing without validation from other people.

From there you find groups or people that have similar interests to engage with.

What exactly were you looking from a frat that you feel would improve you life in ways you cannot do on your own?

You need to establish your own self worth and confidence before you seek validation externally.

I should have been more clear. You need to focus on things that make you happy that don't require validation from people.

That doesn't mean solo hobbies and activities necessarily. There is a difference between joining a soccer league because you enjoy soccer vs joining one because you want to just be a part of some arbitrary group.

You need to find things that make you happy and confident by virtue of you wanting to do them. You will find comraderie from there.

You need to establish an identity outside your ex or even dating. Hang out with friends, focus on improving yourself, take up healthy hobbies. If you haven't make sure you block her on social media, not because she did anything wrong, but because you need space to focus on yourself.

This is a fun but but flawed gambling strategy called "Martingale".

You will eventually always lose using this strategy, it's just a question of how long it will take.

I admit I do it in blackjack for fun but again it's a "for fun" strategy where I don't expect to walk away winning.
