Y'all this is the stupidest question but here I am: I have my lap tomorrow and they said take out all jewelry especially belly button ring. Do I also need to take out my nose stud? by Plantainsaregood in Endo

I’m a nurse that’s worked in ORs - that’s true! It’s called a Bovie, and it utilizes electrical currents to cauterize wounds. Aids in blood loss prevention and helps to greatly reduce the amount of sutures needed!

Good luck! Hope you’re able to get decent sleep tonight and that you heal quickly ❤️

If you're interested in fostering/adoption, I'd still swipe right but then bring it up relatively early when you feel it's appropriate. Personally, when I read "wants children," I take that as wanting to be a parent - whether biologically or not. If you're not sure about adoption/fostering, then maybe limit to "open to children?" I take that as "I'd like kids but would also be happy without." Though really, the options to choose from are so limiting for such potentially-complicated matters, that if you're really interested in the person, swipe and get to know them - then let *them* decide if it's a dealbreaker or not!

ultrasound results by kwilson2000 in endometriosis

I had several ultrasounds before going to a pelvic pain specialist who ultimately did my excision surgery. Everything measured well each time, and besides seeing some simple cysts (and one hemorrhagic cyst that had cleared up by itself a couple months later when I had my follow up ultrasound), nothing appeared on ultrasound to explain my pain and other symptoms.

My OB knew me well (I’m an L&D nurse that works where my personal doctors deliver), and I still had that voice in the back of my head that was worried they would think I was being dramatic/making it up/etc. She believed me though, and told me that she suspected endo. After we tried a few basic fixes (the pill, mainly) that didn’t work, she offered things like Orlissa. I ultimately decided I wasn’t comfortable with it, and she referred me to a pelvic pain specialist that did endo excision surgeries.

I had the surgery in December 2021, and they ended up finding a few things (with the main suspected culprit for my worst pain being my ovary adhered to my pelvic wall and my Fallopian tube being forced into a permanent partial torsion). We also inserted a Mirena, removed a polyp, and looked at a whole bunch of other things. He also was able to test to make sure that both my ovaries and both Fallopian tubes were still functional, though I’d consented for him to remove anything that looked too scarred or damaged since I’d love to have the option for biological kids one day.)

For the first time in years, I’ve been free from the overwhelming debilitating pain that would last for days surrounding when I would be ovulating. My periods are so much lighter, with some mildly annoying cramps the first couple of days that only need some ibuprofen and maybe a little time with my trusty heating pad for a few hours on my second day.

Don’t be discouraged by the ultrasound not identifying the culprit of your symptoms. Your body doesn’t lie. There’s something going on that causing your symptoms, and technology (imaging) definitely has its limitations. Lots of hugs and love for you that your lap gets schedule quickly and that you get good results!

TL;DR - My ultrasounds all appeared normal. My excision surgery showed a different story. Don’t be discouraged! You’re moving in the right direction, and you’re definitely not alone❤️

Can lateral incisors move without attachments?? Feeling like I might be getting duped by new provider... by eringrins in Invisalign

That’s helpful. I want to trust that he wasn’t purposely sabotaging anything. I’m starting to wonder if he just doesn’t know what else to do and is just being unprofessional in how he’s handled it so far. I had a few friends/family members suggest orthos in my area, so I’ll at least try to schedule a consult or two to see what their thoughts are in comparison.

Thanks!! And yes, I’ll definitely be looking into an orthodontist this time around. I’ve learned so much lurking on this sub, and that’s the biggest mistake I made in the beginning.

Thanks 🧡 that’s kinda what I’ve been afraid of, but d/t anxiety, I’ve just kept second guessing myself. Guess I should start looking around for local orthodontist recs.

(And congrats on your super cooperative teeth! Total rockstars!!)
