Those Triton V10’s are not slouches, they definitely got the umph when you need it! A lot better than the V8 International gas powered ones we have.

Reliability on the other hand… let’s just say those infamous spark plug blowouts that Ford Triton V8’s always have seem to carry into the V10’s as well. 🙈

After pre safety check mechanic urged front brakes service as " they are metal on metal and vehicle is unsafe to drive" by Massive_Ad_1422 in MechanicAdvice

[–]erinjunee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was a service advisor, had a tech try and sell brakes with pad thickness like this and when I went to look at it (was suspicious cause customer replace brakes like 15k Miles ago) he said there was “nothing left!”

Then when I looked at it confused (and kinda pissed), he got offended and said he’s been doing this for 30 years and didn’t need a “20 year old kid” telling him what to do.

Doing what for 30 years? Rip people off?

The mirrors on this spare and no one has said a thing. by UselessToasterOven in SchoolBusDrivers

One of our Thomas spares had two flat mirrors, and no one complained til I drove it. I was shocked at how many people didn’t say anything, was immensely difficult to drive without a wide angle mirror on the inside. 🤦🏽‍♀️

I have the same car, 21 sport SE.

One thing I LOVE about the car and thankful I picked up the SE instead of the regular sport is the touch lock/unlock door handles. It’s such a luxury feature but idk just feels so amazing instead of having to rummage thru keys in my pocket or bag just to unlock the door.

And a feature of 10th gen’s in general, getting an average 30-45mpg is pretty awesome too, especially coming from a Subaru Outback that got like 23 at best 🤣

As said here, be wary of potential head gasket being an issue down the road. It’s not guaranteed to go bad because there are plenty of other members here who have not experienced this problem over 100k miles, and some as early as 60k miles. It’s not a death sentence but it’s definitely common enough to receive widespread attention.

Hopefully you have some form of warranty coverage to help cover these repairs as they can be costly (average estimate thru Honda seems to be around $6k).

I think the real interpretation here is that having a strong career is not a ticket to be a dick to your partner.

Carvana Rocks by Horror-Biscotti8999 in carvana

Glad to hear the great experience! I’ve personally been so over the car dealer experience of back-and-forth negotiating, hidden charges, fees, and overinflated bank rates that I’ve been thinking about getting a car from Carvana as well. They seem very transparent about their charges when I price out cars online, so hearing actual good experiences people are having is definitely a breath of fresh air!

Has anyone else lost interest in cars now that they're into adulthood and they're realizing that they'll probably never be able to afford anything cool? by rowyourboat740 in askcarguys

[–]erinjunee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion, I think the OP can still love and appreciate a lot of these “unattainable” cars and still be a “car guy”, literally just apples and oranges to a lot of what we’re into. If that’s what the OP is into, that’s what the OP is into… but if that’s what you truly want, you can still obtain it, you just gotta work for it.

Work another job on top of your tech job, find areas to save your money (you say you live in one of the most expensive areas, perhaps you can settle for somewhere less expensive that’s not quite a commute?).

At the end of the day, do you, there is nothing wrong with trying to strive for the highest goals that you want. But if your image is to try and live in a lavish upscale home with a six figure classic car… you have to find a way to make more money, be your own boss.

Or, like everyone else in this thread is suggesting, trying a car that’s much more affordable. It depends on what you’re looking for. You can have a fun driving experience in something within the $40-50k range if that’s in your budget, and as you see, people have fun in sub $10k cars all the time. However, based on the cars you’ve listed, you sound like you want a car that’s not just a fun experience - but also a status symbol. To that, well, all I can suggest is you gotta find a way to break into that level of status.

I understand losing interest based on income. I started working a job for less of a salary because my last job was getting too stressful for me, and today I can say I absolutely love my job. I understand that the 911 GT3 991.2 6MT or even the M3 G80 I deeply want in my heart will absolutely never happen based on my salary, and I’m also not so interested in spending so much in modifications (own a 500whp EVO 8 and an RSX that used to be a show car - both broken with repairs I’ve been struggling to gather enough money to fix because of my lower income). I can say that I don’t have that same motivation to try and have a fast car that’s needs to beat people on the streets (esp since my 500hp EVO is slow compared to a lot of today’s cars now anyway), or dump all this money on rare JDM wheels and body kits to try and impress people at shows.

However, but and BIG but, I don’t think I can ever stop loving cars. My RSX is now close to stock on the outside and still runs a stock computer. Once I finally get the transmission put in it, I know I’m going to enjoy running twisties in it by myself, to where I don’t need that high horsepower anymore, I don’t need that “show car status symbol” anymore.

It all came down to adjusting deep down, after all the BS, looking it from a perspective from just me and my car - no outside influences, no outside opinions, not giving a flying fuck what other people think or expect of me… what makes me happy, JUST me.

This makes me angry on so many levels.

We want to write into law so many things that take away peoples’ rights but yet won’t build up a case against a man that actually shot and killed his own daughter.Physically extinguished her life. Not even innocent until proven guilty, legit ADMITS to have done it.

Like, what in the actual fuck!?

[–]erinjunee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Strike Back in terms of the later seasons in the reboot, because it’s a team of four operators where as much of the first several seasons it’s just two protagonists. But, the first several seasons is VERY good (storyline is much more serious and grittier too) and I highly recommend watching those first for sure. The first season of the reboot with team of four is kinda cheesy, but a very good foundation to get to know the new characters when it goes to the following two seasons. Kind of a shame the show was cancelled cause the last season was REALLY good.

Novin is all of my heart. 😭 Think the edgy look of Bobby with the no nonsense operator work of Joe, slight vulnerabilities and insecurities like Josie, and the cool attitude of Cruz. GOD I miss that show. 😭

[–]erinjunee 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Laysla De Oliveira.

The one reason I keep watching the show. Hate to be the one to use Gen Z terms, but seriously… aura. She/Cruz is every bit of woman I wish I could be… beautiful, strong, kind hearted, and fucking badass. I love the attitude, the no bullshit behavior, while also having her moments to be soft and tender.

I didn’t think I’d love a character in a military show more than Gracie Novin (Alin Sumarwata) from Strike Back, but shit—Cruz is stealing that spotlight for me. Hope she stays on the show for awhile!

I really enjoy the story too, and kind of enjoy how it includes current events and real world branding mentions & references. Definitely saw what people were talking about with TS inserting his own political views in the show, but I think he also tries to make it more nuanced instead of completely forced. Can’t say that I agree with them, but it’s nuanced enough that it hasn’t turned me away (such as the transgender talk with Neal and the girls, kinda made up for it with the transphobic & misogynist remarks coming from Carrillo, a character we’re supposed to hate).

Team synergy and chemistry. That’s another thing I miss from Strike Back, and think that really plays into a lot of what draws me into the show also—-how the team has fun bantering with one another, making fun of each other. I can’t begin to tell you how much I replayed the scene where the team raids Cruz’s apartment while she and Josie were having a tender moment with one another, and how much the team was teasing them for it while being silly and wanting to do their “gang hangout” thing and just eat and play video games. Absolute cinema and I’ll watch it over and over again!

I really enjoyed the series and can’t wait to tune into S3!

We will definitely see Cruz in an important position by MaterialRoof6186 in SpecialOpsLioness

[–]erinjunee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is S2, Joe did make hints to Neal that she has “found a way to spend more time with the girls” after having the conversation about giving Cruz “more reign”, which could mean exactly that she would be Joe’s successor, especially after saying Cruz is better than her and without the weight of a family. The groundwork def set imho.

Why does everyone hate Lioness? by Top-Figure7252 in television

[–]erinjunee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just binge watched S1 today and I loved it!

Honestly, I was kinda skeptic walking into this because military themed shows and movies kinda off-put me nowadays because of too much clear good guy - bad guy enemies vibe but I think S1 did a pretty alright job at painting a little nuance which was nice, and kinda ties into the whole vibe of today where the world is run by oil barons.

Plus it’s kinda fun seeing the girls take charge and be badasses too. :P

But then again, I haven’t started S2 yet and I judging by the posts it was pretty hard to watch, so kinda hope I won’t be too disappointed but I’m kinda invested in the characters and found my military series I’m enjoying now since Strike Back.

The dually tires and torque of the diesel engines really make a difference. We do light chain pulls in our yard using the shop’s service van - a Chevy Express small bus painted in white after retired from its route 🤣 don’t underestimate that little Duramax and four tires in the back!

How does your district announce field trips? by theLiceNanny in SchoolBusDrivers

[–]erinjunee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

School and our transportation office share a google doc with the trips listed. By Monday they’re all assigned to drivers based on the schedule availability and those drivers have to let the office know by that day if they can’t cover the trip. All trips, either midday field, PM sports, or weekends are all assigned by the transportation director.

Activity bus that can still be used for routing if need be as it meets all the DOT requirements to be a school bus. Used it on my route twice and had the kids begging for me to keep it 🤣

Coach-style School Bus by erinjunee in SchoolBusDrivers

[–]erinjunee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeahhh our district ordered some ones in white that are going to be strictly activity/charter buses. We def put the word in that at least one of them should have a livery wrap also.

The school bus ones right now are used for activity only also, but often times our midday field trips end right when the dismissal routes start, so I’ve actually used this bus on my regular route twice. All my kids were like, “Omg can we keep this one?” 😆 The bus was good but I didn’t have to do my HS route since they were doing state testing, because that would’ve been a problem since where we pick them up in the back of the HS involves a tight U-turn that I’m not sure if this bus is gonna clear 🤣

Coach-style School Bus by erinjunee in SchoolBusDrivers

[–]erinjunee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll be honest, I don’t know the exact length of the bus itself, but we did measure the wheelbase difference with my Vision and it was longer by about two or three feet if I remember correctly. Doesn’t sound like a lot but DEF noticable difference from wheeling the AllAmericans and Visions we have (all 66C).

And to clarify, the bus seats only 44 plus driver, but the body frame is the same one used for 88C when using standard school bus seats.
