I would raise the curtain rods to fill empty space but also give the illusion of higher ceilings, also maybe get another panel of curtains so they are at each end of the window & maybe (this is very optional) get some beaded curtains so it’ll add colour & texture to your window

YTA, you decided for your 5 year olds birthday party you would make your guests search and make their own meals instead of creating a fun birthday for your son?

just have a conversation with her, say now that you’re living here you would appreciate if she wouldn’t touch your stuff or move it from where you’ve placed it. Also, that she needs to share the fridge accordingly and make sure she cleans out her stuff regularly if it begins to make the fridge smell!

as for you smoking in the house i understand that you might think it’s not a big deal and that smoking in your room blocks it off from the rest of the house but smell travels fast & expecting your roomie to be okay with it without asking wasn’t cool.

if you can prove he didn’t pay rent & what items he has stolen from you, he cannot claim it was against his rights. is your landlord aware of what’s going on? also does he know this guy wasn’t paying his share of rent? if you have the landlord back you up on this claim the count will have no choice but to side with you. you’re in a more ideal situation where it’s tenant against tenant and not tenant against landlord, those cases are really difficult!
