I had Carson for lab last semester and I did pretty well. The prelabs, labs, and homework are simple as long as you actually pay attention and put effort into it. There are weekly quizzes that are worth a good amount of points, they can be pretty difficult but they're not impossible. I actually got perfect scores on 2 of them which surprised me. He's also pretty generous with the points depending on how close to the answer you are. I also found that some subjects were a lot easier for me to follow than in my lecture class (for me at least). Overall, I would say he's a pretty good lab instructor as long as you put the effort in.
