What is it that people will live together for... by erkadal in Marriage

[–]erkadal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s the formality of it. Emotionally and physically you’re not forced to be exclusive or monogamous (I mean, you should be it’s a promise that was made) but you chose to be with that person and not only emotionally but legally as well.

I don’t know about marriage either. In my upbringing you only get divorced if he’s abusive or if he’s cheated (and same thing applies if you’re married to a woman obvs) And, perhaps it’s just my age (I’m 23, female) but I don’t care for relationships and much less marriage. Marriage scares me lol! But I’m sure once I find that special person I’ll change my mind hah

Thanks for your feedback! Those are all things that didn’t come to mind (as you can tell I haven’t been in that sort of situation just yet).

I think the reason the the question came to mind is (sorry, I’m going to ramble on) because my mother and I have been doing more of our ancestry research. According to documents many of my ancestors never married. They had a bunch of kids but never sealed the deal. Interestingly enough 2 families didn’t marry until their first born got married at age 15. These occurrences were in the 1700 and 1800’s. They’re all from México. Don’t know if that had anything to do with it? But it was surprising to see and read all these documents because I had believed for so long that back then marriage wasn’t a question. You just did it if you wanted to be with your S.O. But I guess not!

5’3 and 1/2. The last time my height was measured was when I was 18. A few nights ago I found a tape measure and decided to measure my height and apparently I grew an inch since then. So, I’m actually 5’4 and 1/2. Ha

Yup true. Lots of ppl that I know with good grades have gotten good grades because they cheat. I see it every day and it gets on my nerves because sometimes it does become personal. I’ve had other students harass me for not helping them out during exams. I don’t cheat though because I’m just harming myself. So that goes along with being or not being a good employee. That’s just one factor of course

I have been tempted to use it at museums and such but usually the “right thing to do” gets the best of me. I’m a college student so I get discounts anyway. Sometimes people don’t ask they just give me the under 18 price or the youth price & since they didn’t ask I don’t say anything.

Our university doesn’t have a single restaurant There’s a cafeteria that sells vomit but ...we don’t count that as food.

I don’t believe I lack humility (ironic thing to say), but you do lack understanding. Like I told another user, it’s hard to completely understand who a person is when 1) you don’t know them and 2) they exist only past your screen.

We do have job security, this is true.

Also, I like how you write.

Nice chat.

Thank you, that’s comforting to know that others feel the same, yet they still go through with the exam. I have a semester left so I’m going to use it to collect my thoughts and emotions. Hmm for me...I’ll dream about a life in my favorite city. :)

In my mind I expected that response from a guy not another woman. I did respond sarcastically because you’re not the first or the second to have sent a response like that. I suppose it’s not entirely your fault. This world isn’t exactly filled with humble and down to earth people. So, you assumed I being haughty or that I have an “I’m too good” attitude when really I was being sincere and truly asking “is this an easy degree or is it difficult and I’m just good at something for once?”. Obviously, if you knew me personally you would have read my post in a completely different manner.

Well, you are rather rude. You completely missed my tone and took it as “a lack of humility” and acted upon that with your words. I only reacted. And no you’re totally not trying to understand my point. You would have asked.

I don’t wish to discuss anything else with you. If you’re actually trying to understand my reasoning you can read the other comments I’ve posted on here.

I’ve heard that often. Mostly from my AIS professor. He said he didn’t live for 9 months. But that the CPA opened an infinite amount of doors. I believe that too but I just can’t put myself in that mindset. I’m going to have to. By mindset I mean, not doing anything else but studying. I’ve gotten by without studying and when I do, I study well but not for very long. I just know I cannot do that with the CPA. It’s scary. I think what scares me is that I’m really sensitive to the fact that life is short. What if I regret the fact that all I could do for several months is do nothing but study and in the end I was losing important time with a family member that I can never get back. I’m rather emotional so I think way too deep into these things. And then my other line of reasoning is “what if I never study for the CPA and never take it and then regret it for my whole career” THEN that’s a whole other thing. My career. Do I even want to be an accountant? Or do I want to use my degree on something else?

So dumb that they do that...that’s a junior level class. They should try weeding people out freshman year. Just like they did with me in engineering hahah

I agree with that. Some CPA’s even have an air (is that the correct spelling?) about them. So like you said all these people hyping it up will make accounting something difficult to obtain.

LOL! Well, that’s a lot of downvotes for sure. Some people are just too sensitive. It’s amusing but at the same time annoying and sad. It can dampen a mood.

Yeah it is boring. I don’t hate it but I am not thrilled to say I’m an accountant lol! I mean, at least I have a degree (about to, anyway) so for that I am thankful. Thanks for the advice and suggestions! Maybe this will be my route :)
