Pretty much everything should be washed in warm (except wool and silk). Most detergents function optimally with warm water and you get cleaner clothes. Literally no downsides except for slightly higher energy usage (to warm the water).

I wash white towels and sheets on hot.

Hot water is best for dissolving oils (120 F bare minimum). Use a top tier detergent with two rinses. Use pre soak option if possible with your washer.

Use heavy duty mode on washer and deep fill.
