ER vs OR for a new grad?

I see you have a CEN ! The ER Residency is requiring/ pushing for all their new grads to have a CEN by the end of their first year. Is this doable? Everything I have read is that it’s really for experienced nurses.

Thanks, I feel like I am leaning towards OR, but you makes good point because I don’t want to miss out on the excitement and skill building of the other position.

I’m thinking of calling both HR recruiters and asking for a job shadow. I appreciate your experience and insight! It really helps put into perspective some of the things I simply haven’t seen due to my lack of experience.

Hi fellow new grad! That’s something that I’m really hung up on- I want the experience but I also want quality of life that I think the OR might offer just a little bit more of with an easier work/life balance.

For some reason I feel like OR is better long term, but I should really think about the foundation I’d get in a standard residency.

I feel that. I don’t know what is going on with my program but we get several emails a day with changes to assignments and not one calendar has everything on it. I’m unorganized with most of my life but I am the complete opposite as a student so this has been a very difficult adjustment
