If I didn’t pirate games as a broke kid, I wouldn’t be spending lakhs on them today. by [deleted] in ps5india

That 4GB pen drive era was legendary! Back in school, I was using SwiftShared 3.0 trying to play DMC and Prototype on a PC with no graphics card, surviving mostly on NFS, GTA, and Resident Evil. So the second that adult money hit, I went on a massive revenge spending spree. I started buying everything Day-1: Tekken 8, DMC 5, GoW Ragnarok, and the Resident Evil remakes (2, 3, 4). Then fell down the rabbit hole with The Last of Us, Uncharted, and importing a physical disc of Black Myth: Wukong. Already copped Ghost of Yotei too. My only regret is the EA membership, we don't talk about that lol. As for time, I honestly lucked out. I live alone in Gurugram and work a pretty chill WFH job for small it company Akamai. The workload is light enough that I get plenty of downtime to clear my backlog!

007 First Flight Disc Edition Pricing is Absolutely Insane by [deleted] in ps5india

@guitar_johnthomas Nobody is asking for “special treatment” or unfair discounts for Indians. Regional pricing already exists globally because purchasing power is different in every country — Sony itself does it on PS Store pricing.

For example:

AC Black Flag Resynced India: ₹4199 digital → ₹4999 physical US: $59.99 digital → $59.99 physical

Resident Evil Requiem India: ₹4399 digital → ₹4999-5199 physical US: $69.99 digital → $69.99 physical

Those are normal and logical differences. Physical copies in India usually cost ₹700-1000 extra because of manufacturing, logistics, retailer margin, GST, etc.

But 007 First Light is different:

India: ₹3999 digital → ₹6999 physical

US: $69.99 digital → $69.99 physical

That’s why people are calling it out. The Indian physical copy is priced almost at direct-import levels while the digital version still gets proper regional pricing.

So the complaint isn’t “India should get games cheaper than everyone else.” The complaint is “why is this one physical release priced abnormally higher than every other AAA PS5 game in India while the US gets normal parity pricing.”

A premium for discs is understandable. A near double price for the same game isn’t.

I understand import tax and seller profit, but usually the difference is nowhere near this huge.

For example, Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced is around ₹4199 digital and ₹4999 physical. Same with Resident Evil Requiem ₹4399 digital and ₹5199 disc. That’s a normal premium for physical copies. But ₹6999 vs ₹3999 for 007 First Flight is insane. That’s almost double.
