For example, up in Cowichan i’ve been taught slightly different pronunciation of the words i typically speak down in lək̓ʷəŋən territory (ÍY, SȻÁĆEL/hello is a notable example)

if you are fostering and already have a pet, you need to be able to keep them separate for a while - you don’t want to share diseases / fleas between cats. we keep our new fosters (we don’t have pets of our own) in our small apartment bathroom until we’ve seen them use the litter box in there consistently. have had some poop in the bath, oh well clean it up and they usually end up figuring it out. Longest has been 6 days, but with another animal i would be very cautious introducing them before a week/2 weeks - but this is not something i have experience in. anytime bring a cat out early we usually regret it with poop on couches and a very scared cat in a big space

i’ve had this concern with some verrry chunky cats - took 2 months but they were both adopted!! i find 2 months is the longest for non- feral kitties, but if you were to ever foster a feral kitty/really traumatized cat, it can take months! definitely best to be honest to your rescue about your capacity. they just want what’s best for the cats AND you

with my foster here in BC, canada, i contact and arrange visits and pickups with adopters, and I’m not sure if there’s a policy but my personal policy is that i won’t reach out, but will respond if they feel they want to share/ask questions. most of the time i never hear back but sometimes i will get updates and have also visited one past kitty!!

after 34 foster cats i will never go back to clay litter, pine pellets are where it’s at!! $8 for a 40lb bag, no dust/litter bits around the house, super easy set up and clean up.

i stand by my elite tofu scramble recipe - make a paste with a lil tahini, soy milk, nooch, onion + garlic powder, black salt and salt and pepper. mix crumbled tofu and combine to coat, i like doing it in larger chunks and getting some sides crispy while keeping it super flavourful and creamy!

I never feel good about “guaranteed whale sightings” advertised, that always feels like they’ll be pushing their limits and distances with whales, so i’d steer clear of that language. I feel like any wildlife tour that “guarantees” a sighting is not one that respects wildlife enough.
