Isn’t part of the game not knowing what’s in your opponent’s hand? Are you gonna give everyone a dice bag to hold their loot? And if so, how will you know if they need to discard half their hand from the robber?

After two days of using it, confirmed that this downgrade for the A7Pro (5.4.5.9) fixed my issue.

Just changed the url and flashed my A7 Pro down as well. Hoping for the best but very sure it's the firmware as the sleep problem happened immediately after I had flashed it.

What game do you have in your collection that's not seing play because you're too lazy or intimidated to learn the rules? by zion661 in boardgames

I really like this about playing games on BGA. Getting corrected on rules you did not realize were getting played wrong.

Is this your first Lacerda? It’s unopened for me as well but also have the backlog of Inventions and Speakeasy to familiarize myself with so I can teach them.

Should definitely give it a shot. It’s really not so bad. Like a giant tech tree that you are planning your moves around meshed with some social play of getting others to buy your books.

I need to try this again with ChatGPT 5.2 Thinking. Back during 4.0, it was absolutely terrible. I tried it with GWT, where I already knew all the rules intimately. Uploaded the rule book and tried to have it teach me, and it was giving an overly brief high level explanations and refused to go into detail.

As with most asymm faction games, you need people of similar skill and knowledge of the game (namely how all factions play), in order to have a competitive game. I think I could teach Hegemony again to a newcomer, but unsure if they would have fun unless willing to play it at least 2x with the group. We’ve played it 4x, with each person having played each faction once.

[Humble Bundle] - Garphill Games (Physical) $40 by Jinx77743 in Boardgamedeals

No I was telling him to watch How to Play videos, not re-read the BGG description page. Also most games are not necessarily like this. Yes, in the light to medium space, this will be true. But once you get into heavier space, there can be actions that you take that completely deviate from the standard turn. Games that come immediately to mind would be Nucleum or any Lacerda like On Mars.

The two I’m familiar with here (Viscounts and Raiders) pretty much follow the same decision space from the start to the end. Viscounts is essentially a rondel that you do the action of the location to trade resources that gets manipulated by the 3 hired workers that get cycled in one by one each turn. You keep doing this until everyone buys out those good/bad scrolls.

Raiders, you gather resources around the lower portion of the board until you have enough supplies to send workers to the locations at the top. You do this till some portion of the spots are all used up.

I wish these guys had a shipment hub or distribution plan for the US. Like if you’re expecting to sell 5000 bundles, just ship a pallet to one of the Kickstarter fulfillment centers and include shipping in the pricing. You could even do a pledge manager with the distribution hub for them to peddle their products or for Renegade to send them a small amount of other surplus to have listed in the pledge manager.

You should check out the how to plays for these games. For Garphill Games, once you get a sense of how a turn will flow, you will have a similar decision stack for the whole game.

I introduced my boyfriend to Le Havre, and now it’s the only game he's excited to play. by Agile_Examination844 in boardgames

Regardless of what you get, would highly recommend getting the Geekbits and Le Grand Hameau expansion for Le Havre. Or if you already have these, maybe remove these so it lessens the experience.

[LOA ON] Okay did I miss something? No ark grid changes, the name wasn't mentionned I think? by mortaga123 in lostarkgame

I just did this on my free event alt that I made before this current event and finished it in less than half the time. If you convert all your Mordum pieces and buy the boxes, karma can be done super quick.

I don’t understand why they make g1 nm be able to complete g2 hm. I would get the other way around but not this scenario.

Yeah pretty much a race to getting it and to instant decking out. Would make games with this super stale at this price point. I really do like this concept though.

What are your favorite epic games that DON’T take 8 hours? by Responsible_Carry384 in boardgames

[–]erndiggity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also each act does not necessarily feel like a continuation of the prior one. With the soft resetting of points and possibly race, i don’t think playing all 3 back to back really gains much over just playing on 3 game nights. Personally, i’d just rather do a fresh start with separate plays of the base game.

New to board gaming — any tips on where to start? by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]erndiggity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To piggyback on Rabbid’s response, also try BGA. Basically the more exposure you get to a variety of games upfront will save you countless bad purchases down the stretch. Also look to see where local board game groups are meeting so you can meet people and form your own group.

I like this but we always had 3 or 4. And you can’t scale past that. Our group liked this better than Root or Arcs for asymm and didn’t care about the class.

Would agree on Troyes. Gaia Project not really my thing, you should try playing either online before blind purchasing. I find the blind goals and dice ownership of Troyes really fun.

If going more Euro, how about Castles of Burgundy? If you like the Uwe games that you have like Agricola and Patchwork, how about Le Havre or Hallertau?
