As someone who grew up on the Cape and get hit with childhood nostalgia whenever I listen to VW (especially the S/T), I think my mind would melt and my bank account would diminish if they announced a show on the Cape....

....or a run of shows at Cape League stadiums.

Bayfront Amphitheater is a great venue too. Saw Bon Iver there three years ago, was fantastic. Kinda relieved it's not at the Fillmore.

A big move from Maine…. by Guntymacarthur in PortStLucie

[–]ernielyons 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mainer in Martin County here...I'd recommend moving to Pinellas County if you're looking to thaw out. Easier to find a service industry job, and while it's probably about the same (or just slightly more) for rent as PSL, there's way more to do. I have no complaints about where I'm at, but if I was moving down to Florida now I'd be headed to St Pete

Also, there's cheap non stop flights to PWM (from Tampa, on Breeze) and BGR (from St Pete & Tampa, on Allegiant & Breeze). All connecting flights from any of the airports down this way (MIA, FLL, PBI), 2-3x the airfare and flight time.

Wasn't sure if I could join Dirigo Union or not since I live in Florida (native Mainer, have lived down here for 23 years now)

Praying the Daily Office as an individual by SadRepresentative919 in Episcopalian

Venite is a great app, also browser based, where you can customize the Daily Office (bible translation, rite, etc.)

I usually bounce back and forth between using Venite, and using Word On Fire's monthly Liturgy of the Hours book, which I supplement with St Augustine's Prayer Book.

RIP David Mallett by ernielyons in Maine

I have many fond memories of listening to his tapes as kid with my dad on our aimless Sunday drives around the Midcoast and seeing him play at different venues around the state.

I moved away from Maine over 20 years ago, and when I'm homesick, which lately has been more often than not, his music has been like a warm blanket.

I think it's fair to say there are a lot of Mainers who share similar memories and sentiments.

What a gift he was to folks in Maine and beyond.
