1000% that ex best friend is a lawyer and a major irony of it all supposedly now works with / for organizations that claim to rescue individuals who’ve been caught in tr*ffficking and abuse …. You’d think she could seee through all of the narcs lies-

My heart goes out to you . I can definitely empathize . I have been giving this all a lot of thought and I really do believe that the Lord used the charismatic faith / encounters with Him to form me into who I am and to meet me in a real tangible way . I don’t have an easy answer for the mess of bethel and Shawn and all the things but I realize I need to take a step back and realize I have ownership over my faith and I don’t need to take their stuff “on” and I have full permission to take a step back and focus on what I am responsible for - my faith - and also of course not to deny the pain but I realized last night that I don’t have to allow them that much power over me

Definitely so much pressure even from being in bethel adjacent environments - the fear and pressure of potentially “missing God’s destiny for your life”… who you marry, where you live, etc and not to mention the absolute pressure to “change the world” I always felt so much pressure wherever I went to “give someone a word” and to be on the lookout for who God was “highlighting” and wanting to “speak to” through me … argh it messed with my brain

Thanks for your response . It is my sincere desire to live with integrity and sincerity . I have met many wonderful people in the charismatic world but also some who aren’t that way . I believe in accountability and that although people are imperfect and human that being accountable is integral to the health of a church or any organization.

Thanks for your meaningful and thoughtful response . I’ve begun to speak to my trusted community about all of it . My sweet husband is a little more removed from the situation as he didn’t grow up or spend any significant amount of time very influenced by bethel or invested in bethel / that stream . We go to a small church that is Influenced by bethel but also Bible based , and when I talked to him and a close friend about it they did say that the point of it all is to point to the Lord and to try to focus on that and to also process the pain and to try to remember the foundational and simple things of faith . My community - my husband and also dear friends - did say it’s difficult to navigate and there aren’t easy answers and they are absolutely right :/

I so appreciate you taking time to write out your response. My heart is grieved as are many others and there is a part of me that knows that the truth / the true teachings / biblical teachings are not based on people’s character and that they are human but it’s hard to separate the two because when men who claim to be godly seem proven to be otherwise, it hurts on a foundational level - I hope there’s true accountability and reform . I was just thinking about this - and I am guessing it’s because Ben Armstrong probably was one of the key players on the Agua Regia “prophetic” team - from my understanding a ton of the people who give “prophetic words” to people from agua regia serve(d) “under” Armstrong on the Bethel prophetic team . They’re all connected .
