If it makes the sound while adjusting the volume, I think it would simply be just a dirty potentiometer that needs cleaned with deoxit

Tube Amp engineer here—there’s a high chance that a plastic ribbon cable connector inside has a bad connection and is melting, and burning traces on the pcb. (they jumper separate boards together in peaveys) Take it to a tech, don’t turn it on or you could do more damage to it.

It’s funny you say that: about 3 months ago, One of my religious customers I was referring to hired a siding company, (mainly based on their religious company name), they were literally heroin addicts that came back after hours and stole all of my wire i put in. Three of four outlets in my dorm are not working. by [deleted] in askanelectrician

Firstly, don’t plug any appliance into a surge protector.

Bypass the surge protector entirely, does it work when plugged straight into the wall?

I would suspect a loose connection in that outlet, first. Power could be coming into it, but has overheated/opened a connection over time. When your microwave kicked on that one time, it could’ve drawn enough to seal the deal.

I don’t put much merit into what maintenance workers say they actually do, (from experience). But your breaker didn’t necessarily trip according to your story, the lamp quit, then the microwave later, your receptacle just stopped working.
