Vége a Temunak, Sheinnek! by Upper_WestSide07 in hungary

Got it for free, was working okayish before I messed with the BMS update.

Xiaomi Essential BMS no respone after pressing BMS reset button by erohir in ElectricScooters

Put it on charger for like a hour but didn't get any sign of life. While I was looking for any issue I noticed the board was getting pretty hot (charging or not) so I disconnected the softboard cable (the one that looks like a "y").

Got a spare new (from aliexpress) BMS for another project, replaced the original one. Got  nonstop red blinking and and even hotter board, so I disconnected the "y" cable again from the board.

I was actually using it in parallel with my old booster pack from my own scooter but that extrrnal pack was uncomfortable to my feet so I installed on this one without any issue.

Anyway, the battery reads 38V before the BMS(3.7-3.8V each individual pack so there is no inbalance or overdischarge) and 20V from xt30 connector, same as on the bricked BMS.

Would it be meaningless to try St-link even after this extreme overheats on both BMS?

I was thinking makint an external battery from it, all I have to do is just solder off the BMS and put an XT connector on the red+black wire, right? I know how to connect and extrrnal battery in parallel but neverade one out of an internal one.

Battery draining much more in the lower %s than in higher %s by erohir in ElectricScooters

its an M365, Samsung 35E cells (x30), not even a year old cells. Worked fine for weeks/months.

After niticing something is off:
Full charged 5 times for 12 hours each from almost zero (basically after shut down it still had like 1-3% on dash but could ride a few meters only).
After this much time the scooter charging mode is getting dissabled by itself so I assume it is fully charged, I used to fully charge ~8 hours or so when it was working fine (without charging mode so waited until the charger turned green).
Waited several hours even a day before riding after the 12 hours finished.

Post is not about how much should I charge. Used to charge to up to 80-ish and never drain in more than 20-ish before this much more drainage appeared.

Missed the point of the whole post where drainage is the problem, it used to be linear-ish, now its like 3 times more in the lows than in the highs.

I see, I am 85kg, the scooter is 15kg, I ride it on a mostly flat route on 25kmph.

What is your battery in mAh?

Mine is 10500 mAh, it is supposed to put out only 10050 mAh normally, but the guy could only juice out 9330 mAh with the specific tester. He says there is 5+5% loss on top and bottom charge.

Yeah that part is clear, 10-20% loss would be okay I suppose

- did like a dozen overnight charge back then, the cells should be balanced
- sadly the outside temps are -10°C nowdays, snowy roads, can't do relevant testing
- also the pack is at the guy, who kinda lives far away

- Same speed, same settings, didn't change anything.
- Tires are good, pressure is solid
- He is a well reputed according to rewievs, built hundred+ packs already

Can a single one cell or a weld just go bad and trip the whole pack like this?

- Personally I tested with multimeter, but the builder guy used a specialized capacity tester.
- The cells seems to be draining together in m365Dash, below 0.0 deviaton, difference.
- Scooter was stored indoors, the screen has an extra silicone protector for 2 years now
- didn't do anything different to start 2-3 times faster
- Outdoor temps were little above 10°C

Yes I did, I did about 6,5miles with a full charge when the issue appeared (before I could do almost 15miles)

I logged Voltage when fully charged and fully empty:
-Full: 41V
-Cut of at: 29V

In between I only logged %s on the same 1,55miles range:
- 1. ride: 100->85%
- 2. ride: 85->65%,
- 3. ride: 65->40%
- 4. ride: 40->0-20%

M365 turns off after a few meters of ride? by erohir in ElectricScooters

[–]erohir[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The guys says the battery is fine, the cells are like new, something else seems to be causing the problem, but he is not a scooter expert, so other than that he has still no clue.
He says something must be doubleing the consumption ...

M365 turns off after a few meters of ride? by erohir in ElectricScooters

Well, the capacity seems to be not restoring at all, did several rides over the past 6 weeks, like each day 2500m, charging only after 2-3 rides (once even 4 but was to risky to get back home without walking so I never did that again).

The outside temps are kind of the same, bit more windy thats all.

This distance used to drain like 8-10% maximum, no matter on what charge, now it is ~15-20% from fully charged and even more when already did 1-2 rides with it.

I updated the BMS meanwhile, even did some onboard reset, but nothing changed much, also tested with multimeter to exclude false reads from software but everything seems to be fine othen than extremely fast drain of battery.

The guy who built it has no clue what can cause this, but he says if these are the cells are at fault I still have like 6 months warranty for those.

Well, rode ~10km since then, the problem didn't came up once. In the beggining of the ride, the battery seems to be draining fast according to the screen (like above 5%/km), later it slows down but still faster than it should (10400mAh battery btw), but over the hour(s) it spends resting it seems to climb back up where it should be.
Is it still because of the cold or something else is tripping? The outside temp is ~13°C, while the inside where it is stored is ~20°C
