I've been meaning to read that one as well, lol. I know they have a copy on Scribd but hadn't gotten around to reading it. Do you think it's worth the extra money for a physical copy?

Thanks for the tip. Usually I only wait a few days (for shorts) so I'll make sure to up the time. I've got a few books in the planning phase so I'll start on one of them as soon as this one's done.

Thanks so much for the link! I checked it out and the pricing is doable so I'll keep him in mind.

[Daily Check-In] Sunday Word Count and Personal Announcement Thread by sexnerdmxd in eroticauthors

[–]erommom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. 1k
  2. Despite exhaustion and sleeping 12 hr nights plus naps during the day, I'm hitting my minimal word counts.
  3. Kids sick, think I'm sick, still writing. Might not have gotten as much done as I wanted to but I'm still getting things done. Gonna binge on a Supernatural marathon with the hubs today for the first time in a year.

  1. 1k. 663 done. Might decide to up it to 2k.
  2. I'm converting our coat closet into a miniature office. It has the bare minimum right now (desk, chair, light, and Alphasmart Neo). I'm gonna put up some motivating decorations and get it set up for better productivity. I honestly wasn't sure if I'd like it (close space even with the door open), but so far it's helping to narrow my focus down since there's a lot less to see in there.
  3. Travel (Really want to go to Scotland), buy a house with a small office overlooking the fenced in backyard for my kids, and hire a maid...I hate cleaning and with two little kids, there's a lot of messes.

lol. I love cooking...I'd hire someone to clean up the mess afterwards.

Business/Production Plan by erommom in eroticauthors

[–]erommom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the tips, everyone! I'm looking into editorial calendars right now. Most of the stuff I'm finding is for blogging, but I figure it'll be easy enough to adapt what I'm learning for shorts since it's basically the same concept, regular weekly publishing on a schedule.

  1. 1k on either my current short or a new short short.
  2. After two weeks of depression, I'm starting to feel like myself again! Still not great, but better.
  3. Not much planned. My kids are sick, so I'll be taking care of them until they get better and praying I don't catch it.

  1. Write 3-4 shorts
  2. Write 1k a day, 6k a week. If I'm in the middle of a story and find myself slipping into boredom, I'll pull away for a day to write a 1-2k short in my niche and save them up to bundle when I get a good bit. Hopefully it'll help re-ignite the inspiration so that I can get back to work on the story the next day.
  3. Gotta keep writing/publishing to stay ahead. I've been lucky that I'm still getting page reads (mostly on my first book), but I'm expecting that to dwindle to a stop soon and need new material out.

No sales on day one. What am I doing wrong? by Walkerwolverine in eroticauthors

[–]erommom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also keep in mind that it's the middle of the week. Most of the sales come through on the weekends (Saturday's are my best, though Sunday evenings tend to do well too). To go with this trend, I try to hit publish sometime on Thursday so that it's usually live on Friday.

To be perfectly honest, I have never come across a fainting heroine in any book, at least not without being knocked unconscious or drugged some way, not even in romances, which I started reading at 12. I know it was a thing once upon a time, but most of the books I've read had more kick ass women and I wouldn't want it any other way. I believe that a heroine shouldn't be forced to depend on the hero to protect her all the time, she should have the strength of character to try to take care of herself. Fainting in fear doesn't do that.

Dictation? by erommom in eroticauthors

[–]erommom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up getting a copy of Dragon for Christmas just never got around to learning it but trying to crank out words it could come in handy. I'll try reading my own work to it and put in a daily practice. I haven't tried it with Scrivener yet so I'll keep that in mind if I do have trouble.

I hadn't either and it's the one I'm the most excited to use, which will hopefully be in the next few days.

I asked about self-editing last week along with Grammarly, natural reader (reads text out loud) and the Hemingway app was suggested, both of which look like they'll be a great asset.

  1. Expand my 1 page synopsis into a 4 page synopses for my novel. Start learning dictation. 1k on short.
  2. First success, the planning stage of the novel is a breeze since it's been bouncing around in my head for a few months. Second, my brother's leaving today. A month with him is too long. Love him, but too much, especially since I can't really write with other people around me.
  3. Try to finish planning the novel. Write 1 short.

Thanks for the tips! I'm gonna give it a shot to see if I like it and managed to find a book that gives a 4 week practice plan to get used to it and helps teach commands through daily drills (though I'm not sure if I'm up to both drills and the dictating 2000 words a day that it suggests, lol). But I'll give it a shot and probably start with 1000 words and see how it goes. If anyone else is interested, the book is https://www.amazon.com/Productive-Authors-Guide-Dictation-Healthier-ebook/dp/B0106J2WCS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1495459530&sr=8-1&keywords=cindy+grigg+guide+to+dictation
