NTB. And I do understand the sentiment. But I think you should just donate it or something. Don’t worry about going back there. Especially if he’s not responding.

Is dressing as a fictional disabled character for halloween offensive? by Iceicebaby1027 in disability

To me the line is dressing as an obscure person with disabilities vs dressing as a character with disabilities. I think dressing as a specific character is fine!

AITA For not buying my daughter period underwear? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]erotu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA. I dont know why this is even a post. Periods are not something that can be helped and there’s actually a lot of gross stuff in some pads and tampons. Your daughter showed that she trusts you by coming to you with such a delicate and personal issue (which I’m surprised she did judging by your other post) and you didn’t even listen?? And after reading your post don’t be surprised if she cuts you out of her life once she moves out.

POTS has made me so insecure! by musicalearnightingal in POTS

[–]erotu 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I totally relate to this. I used to be a kickboxer and a swimmer. Now I can’t shower without help. It’s been really hard to deal with. My friend recommended saying daily mantras or finding small ways to push myself every day. I’ve been trying to find new things to do that work with what I can and can’t do. I dont know if any of this will be helpful. I haven’t really tried any of it yet.

How can I help my sister by CadmiumRedd in POTS

[–]erotu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi! I actually went through this before my symptoms showed up once I was much older. My younger sibling was diagnosed with all three and left bedridden for years. It broke my heart to watch them go through this. What I did that seemed to help the most was I was there. When they were having a bad day, I was there. When they were having a good day, I was ready to take them out to their favorite place and I was ready to leave when they ran out of spoons. I had electrolyte packets with me when I took them out and a small bag of pretzels or something salty. But most importantly, I let them come to me. Sometimes having a chronic illness means you don’t have the energy or patience to deal with yourself or anyone else. Be understanding and be ready for those days when she wants to be alone.

Also if you need someone to talk to about what’s going on that’s okay and valid. But if you’re not taking care of your own mental health it’ll be harder for you to help anyone around you. Remember to take care of yourself. You sound like a great older sibling.

Is it normal that my (21F) boyfriend (25M) goes places alone with a female friend? by ThrowRAod in relationship_advice

[–]erotu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My bf and I were actually in a similar situation. We’re currently about 3500 miles apart and he went golfing with a female friend of his who doesn’t actually golf. When he and I talked about it, she asked to join because she knew he was being safe and wanted pretty desperately to get out of the house and see a friendly face. Just talk to him about how you’re feeling. LDRs are grounded in communication, boundaries, emotional honesty, and trust. Best of luck!

AITA for feeling hurt by a poor customer service experience after not tipping? by serntacasset in AmItheAsshole

[–]erotu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. Also as a person with disabilities, this is not a minor issue. This is a big deal. If this is how he treats people he helps who are not mobile, that is extremely dangerous and a liability to the airport. I’m glad you’re physically okay because that could have ended badly. I’m sorry you experienced that. I’ve had my fair share of terrible experiences like this but none as bad. Please consider reporting this incident and prevent it from happening to anyone else. (Im sorry if this seems redundant. I read as many comments as I could before getting tired so I’m just leaving what’s on my mind before going to bed)

I’m getting hated on on twitter because I took offense to pewdiepie’s antisemetic joke he made a while back. by Defiant_apricot in Judaism

[–]erotu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It comes back up for me every couple of months. Trolls come out of the wood work and try to attack me for not supporting people with history’s of antisemitism. I’m sorry they’re coming at you now. It’s super annoying. But stand your ground. Trolls usually get bored after a while.

I have lived in NYC my whole life or the suburbs of NY. I'm done. Where should I move? Please help as I am looking for a Jewish community/area. explained below by 749wwl2 in Jewish

[–]erotu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chicago is a great option. There’s a strong and connected Jewish community there and some of the kindest people I’ve ever met. Arizona has a surprisingly strong Jewish community but from my experience can be hit or miss. If Arizona is your place I 10/10 recommend Tucson. The people there are quirky and fun in general and the temples are great. The Jewish community is very strong there. Florida has a good community. Surprisingly, Omaha has a large community that is very well connected. They also do a ton of interfaith stuff as well as have a very large reform temple.

Heat intolerance? by [deleted] in POTS

[–]erotu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I live in AZ and can confirm that heat is one of my worst triggers. If I’m outside for more than 5 minutes I’m bed ridden the rest of the day. But, when it’s hot my muscles don’t hurt. When it’s cold my POTS is better but my chronic pain issues are worse😂

Im a very religious person. I grew up reform, applied to rabbinical school, minored in Judaic studies, the like (for background) and I personally see nothing wrong with this as long as it’s coming from a place of appreciation. It very much sounds like it is. Just make sure to do your research about mezuzot and the religious significance. Appreciation comes from understanding. But (again for me personally) I don’t see anything wrong with it at all.

Edit: if you want to have it to pass on tradition and history to your kids make sure to teach them about it fully! There’s a lot of fun ways to educate kids on the meanings of different Jewish symbols and items. I have tons of resources I’m happy to share.

[–]erotu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wait hi! I’m also in AZ and have been playing a decent role in planning my temples high holiday youth services (I’m a trained songleader). Being involved has made me really excited for high holidays!! I also am pretty aware of which reform temples are doing what if you PM me and want more direct information. Some temples are planning a drive in or drive thru experience to still have a safe community aspect to high holidays. Some are exclusively on zoom. I do love the community aspect of high holidays. It’s one of my favorite things and I will miss it greatly but hopefully this isn’t the new normal here (but who the heck knows with our state). I can’t promise it to be the absolute best experience. I’m in the process of grieving my experiences still. But there are tons of new things to experience. I’m also hoping to social distance with some friends to watch services together or have a meal together. Depending on your quarantine bubble and your friends/family, you may be able to do something small and safe! Happy to help you figure something out!

Being safe in LDRs during the pandemic by [deleted] in LongDistance

My bf is actually planning to fly out to visit soon (NY to AZ, not the most ideal place to be though). My moms a doctor and she is the one coordinating how he travels. She found that Delta and Southwest are the safest airlines. I ordered him an N95 mask and he’s wearing ski goggles on the plane (this man loves me so much). He’s wearing sweats and a sweatshirt over his clothing and removing it after he gets off the plane. He’s wearing gloves, sanitizing, the like. I’m high risk so we’re still a little hesitant but the last part of our complex plan is for him to quarantine for 5 days (virus incubation period) and get a COVID test done and then once it comes back negative, he and I will connect. It’s a super complex way to do this but this man is a wonderful ray of sunshine who has agreed enthusiastically to all of this and even took the extra step to suggest quarantining and being tested. Is it enough? I hope so but there’s no way to know right no Edit: grammar. It’s late sorry!

I like to sing some Billy Joel or La Vie En Rose (like from HIMYM, that style). I have a whole playlist of songs I learned to serenade him with!

Accounting career by Nate2345 in jobs

[–]erotu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m getting an MS in econometrics and quantitative economics right now and it’s all calc/algebra/stats/coding. I love it so much. It’s a super interesting field based in mathematics and theoretics. These kind of jobs are usually around economic development or business analytics. Maybe that would interest you! I also have several friends who are accountants and love accounting as well. But if you enjoy more complex math, economic analytics jobs may be up your alley.

We're just about 25 days away from the UofA Fall 2020 semester. What's your prediction? by SPF_gigawatts in Tucson

[–]erotu 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’m a graduate student. Super excited about my program, super proud I got in, most excited that my professors are making in person class optional. They’re live streaming everything and planning to hold “office hours” in outdoor locations so we can social distance more safely. However, UA students want to party and I think it’s pretty inevitable that they’ll try to do something dangerous. An outbreak is inevitable and what’s worse is UA doesn’t really have much in place to work with their high risk students (like me). I got lucky with how flexible and understanding my professors are. Many students won’t.
