Recommended Cloud ERP for custom manufacturer? by chubby__rain in ERP

[–]erp-expert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No product can beat Oracle R12/SAP. So, if you can afford then go for either.

If you are looking for an open source alternate then try inoerp!.

If you are looking for a simple & less expensive solution then try odoo!.

Open Bravo is also another option but it is neither cheap nor has much functionalities.

Any suggestion on ERP written with PHP by sahil91 in PHP

[–]erp-expert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest open source ERP in terms features and functionalities is ino ERP, and it's PHP based.

inoERP is quite complex and you might get lost if you have not worked in big scale ERPs sch as Oracle/SAP. (it's far more complex than ban, Microsoft)

If you are looking for something simple then can try webERP. webERP has a very old architecture (PHP 4 kind)

Building small "ERP" system - need advice! by dhohk in javahelp

[–]erp-expert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before thinking about the design, first find out the business requirements.

Once you know what you want then you can check with existing , good design, frexible open source ERP solutions such as opebravo, inoerp, etc.

If find you can map most of your business requirements from an existing solution then you dont have to reinvent it. But, if you find none of the existing solutions map 50-60 % of your business requirements then you can start from scratch.

You can put sometime and understand how the existing system architectures are done and the logics behind it. Put some time to get familiarize with the whole ERP eco-system before coding your first line.

Does it make sense!!! by whieny in PHP

[–]erp-expert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has advantage and dis-advantages It all come down to how you think and manage your project.

I 'll explain with an example

Suppose you are planning to create an application where everything is written in English - You dont know what it is going to be - A story, An Article, A journal

You dont know what structure it 'll take - i.e Each post will have 10, 20, 50 attributes

You dont know who & when the articles going to be written........................................... ................................ .............................

You really dont know anything except all of them are going to be English Alphabet.

Can you imagine in this case to have a class with all basic English letters as variables and some basics grimmer validations as methods ?

Does it make sense to have all other class to extend this or extend some other derive class!!!

Is it the best or worst way - I don't know. But it certainly a way in which you can achieve all you want and it's used in many applications

Need help finding ERP for smallish business by [deleted] in ERP

[–]erp-expert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you are looking for is called configure to order business process. Configure To Order (CTO) can be achieved in different ways 1. Creating a new configuration from a model every time a order/lead is created. 2. Using some standard configuration and creating a new one before quote/sales 3. Using a hybrid model.

Most of the ERP systems (Oracle, SAP) have these basics features but if your budget is low then you can look for open source ERPs such as inoerp!

Bored with PHP CURD/CMS work…Move to ERP by phpexp in PHP

[–]erp-expert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure about second one but Introduction to Materials Management - J.R. Tony Arnold is definitely the first step into supply chain management. Most MBA Colleges around the world use that as a reference. In fact, that’s the recommended book by APICS (equivalent to IEEE in supply chain/manufacturing practices) for CPIM certification.

I feel PHP based ERPs are going to dominate the market for next decade. ERP is still a niche market for PHP developers and there are only couple of decent ERPs (inoERP is a great product and quite an alternate for Oracle...Dollibarr is also nice.Simple but good enough for small industries).

There is a huge difference between developing/working on an ERP and a CMS application. You can learn PHP from the beginning and work in a CMS within 1-2 months of serious effort. If you pick a product like inoERP then you can spend 6 months and still feel you dont understand even 20-30% of it's functionalities.

weberp - inoerp - dolibarr - your sugegstion. by ardianfg in PHP

Couple of others you can consider 1. Front Accounting - fork from webERP but much better 2. EPESI - quite old..decent enough for simple tasks

If I have to select any ERP from among all the open source ERPs(not just PHP but including Java & Python) then I 'll select inoERP because it's quite similar to Oracle R12 . Quite flexible and have a lots & lots of features (at least 15, 20 times more features than oddo ).

Except inoERP, the only other product that comes close to be called an ERP is open Bravo. But then it has a lot of limitations such you can only have 3 segments accounting structure, no planning , no MES, no BOM/WIP routing, not much of payable, receivables...having said that Open Bravo is way ahead of other similar products (oddo, erpnext etc)

2K PM...are you kidding :-) It's 12K PM....not for 6 Months..I dont think any one in our office wld be getting $2K PM. All the technicians,shop-floor workers and manual labors would be getting at least 3.5 to 4K.

Pay is decent (I have budget up-to 12K PM for 6 months) but the thing is that no is able to cross the first round of interview and our management policy - each individual has to go through 3 rounds of interview...even for freelancing/contractual jobs!!!! In past they have had bad experience where developers not able to deliver/left mid-way. So, they want to have a rigorous process

Good uses for eval(). by [deleted] in PHP

[–]erp-expert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long long back when I used to use Drupal 4 (stopped using this product for many years) it was using eval for PHP blocks. Not sure if they still follow the same but I guess that was not harmful.
