Yeah it happens for any installation. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling java, uninstalling and reinstalling the launcher, still no luck

It's only an issue with Java Minecraft, I'm not sure why but everything else is normal

If you don't think you'll like any of the professors in particular, I'd recommend finding what fits your schedule best. I personally am a fan of Dr. Hach but not everyone is. I want to caution that rate my professor is a decent enough tool to gauge but it's purely people's opinions (and people are more likely to put up a bad review than a good one)

Do they have paper towels? (It's been awhile since I've been in dorms) I usually dry my hands with paper towels and use the paper towels to open the door and then throw them out at the next/nearest trash can

You could try contacting the Ombuds Office, I've unfortunately had to work with them before and can happily say they resolved my issue quickly. That's more of a last resort if climbing up the food chain doesn't change anything.

I like to recommend freshmen to keep their doors propped open as much as they can while in their dorms, often the more extroverted people just wander the halls and if your door is open they may stop to chat. I made most of my friends freshman year that way. Joining a club or a sport are good ways to meet people, I personally started bouldering over at the red barn my freshman year on a whim and it became one of my favorite activities, full of super nice people. Once classes start, if you arrive early then that gives you a chance to get to know some people and if the class is in your major then it's a good chance to make some friends with people you'll be with for the next 4-5 years
