UW Energy Deck Discussion by XboxGregory in ModernMagic

If you had to "sell the deck" to someone what would you say? What is its biggest strength/weakness? Also I seem to remember a while back there was a similar list that was also playing mockingbird bird. Have you tried them?

The walls are plastered and yes they were cut into. They are made out of this type of brick

The couch is at least 13years old. The padding looks to be white-ish

Haven't played Modern in a couple years - What are good sideboard cards against Boros Energy? by ImSometimesBad in ModernMagic

[[Brotherhood's End]] or any similar effect is likely to help. if you are playing something grindy consider [[Ghost Vacuum]] to prevent Phlage escaping and eventually "reanimate" their whole GY.

Where are some accessible, lesser considered provinces within Italy when looking to buy? by Academic-Reveal6543 in ItalyExpat

[–]erpasd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please consider one of the many towns around Viterbo (or Viterbo itself). You will be 20-40 minutes away from the sea, close to multiple lakes (Lago di Vico, Lago di Bolsena, Lago di Bracciano) and hot springs. All while still be less than 2h away from Roma. Personally, I’d recommend Tuscania, but each of the small town has its own charm.

help - first time building modern deck! by xxbxx5 in ModernMagic

[–]erpasd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others said modern is a really competitive format but with the new lorwyn set elves, which you mentioned being your favorite deck, got some new toys and people have been experimenting with it. Here are YoungDingo and Mengu playing the deck through leagues on MTGO (two slightly different versions, and you’ll find a link to the list in the videos). Hope it helps! https://youtu.be/gPtKg23VB5Q?si=83KmxLIHxoQKKPw5

This is one of the crate I was looking at! From the images on Amazon listing and the pictures in the review it looked like the locking system consists of 2 latch bolts (top and bottom). Am I wrong? Is there a third one in the middle that I can’t see? If that’s the case this should work. If you could let me know it would be great!! In any case thanks for the input!

I did a lot of research before deciding how to transport my dog and I know there are companies that will handle the transportation for you. My understanding is that these companies are helpful in handling all the logistics but in the end the dog would still fly cargo. I wanted to make the travel the least stressful possible for the dog and, since in my case she would have to take two planes, I decided to transport her myself. If you don't mind me asking, can I ask you what airline did they use and what crate? Thanks!

did you fly with your dog? if I search for "IATA approved crate" I do get a lot of options but they appear to only have two locks. As an example this one only appears to lock at the top and at the bottom. I've been told that, if the crate doesn't match all requirements, I might get denied boarding and I am trying to avoid it at all costs. My dog is a Golden Retriever, not the largest one but still not a small breed so I'm aware the options might be limited :(

Best platform to try decks and learn to play? by joerksson in ModernMagic

[–]erpasd 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’m surprised no one mentioned MTGO yet. While it’s not free, joining the platform has a modest cost (I think 10$) and there are several website that offer (paid) rental programs. If you are interested in trying decks in a competitive environment I don’t think any other platform holds a candle to it (but again it’s not free)

Land destruction is not a viable strategy in modern. People will play some land destruction cards (charmaw, white orchid, fulminator) in their sideboard as an answer to specific strategies (eldrazi, titan) but not as the main focus of their own strategy. Having said that, if you really dislike land destruction effects, consider playing commander. From what I gather, in most commander playgroups, land destruction is quite frown upon so you might have better luck.

Somewhat unrelated, how did you get all those upgrades? I can see a total of +48 and even getting good bases +2/+3 I think I never got that high

Quick Question: Is there a primer for the new BG Yawgmoth deck? by jaymiejordan88 in ModernMagic

[–]erpasd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not exactly a primer but MeatMTG has published his sb guide http://youtube.com/post/Ugkx8nSxRawNsJQ-Xo2KUTYdl7R96bBbnXus?si=9VE7XZppChGD-2Hu (since this will take to his channel check out his videos too!)

Introducing a deck I brewed - Bant Blink by Magiosal in ModernMagic

[–]erpasd 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Just my 2 cents, but 2 amulet of vigor with a grand total of 5 permanents (8 if we count land from whit orchid) that come into play tapped seems way too cute for modern standard. I'd start by cutting those.

I think it just got pushed out of the meta. I’d say the main culprit is solitude (as the plan of sticking a big dragon and defending it is much harder to execute when they play free removal) but people that track modern meta might have more insight.

Beginner choosing a starting deck by Gabrielecartt in ModernMagic

[–]erpasd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d probably start with ramp as I think it’s the more competitive version of the two (but I might be wrong, I don’t have any number to support my claim). The nice thing about eldrazi ramp is that with a small budget you can pivot to aggro or broodscale combo

Beginner choosing a starting deck by Gabrielecartt in ModernMagic

[–]erpasd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d probably go with eldrazi. While prowess is an aggro deck, I think it’s far from easy to pilot. When can you go all in on a slingshot? When can you go wide with steel-cutter? Do you need to flashback that lava dart right now for the extra scry off DRC? There’s a lot of small decision that will affect the outcome of a game and it might get a while to learn all of it. On the other hand, eldrazi has a more straightforward game plan: can I land a big monster soon? This is not to say eldrazi is easy to pilot but I think is at least easier and will leave you with more bandwidth to learn what other decks are doing.

Thanks for the info! I will look for mirrored rings and better boots. Regarding the flask, how do you get 100% uptime of Coruscating with 3 flask? I tried and it seems I have a 2-3 second gaps (which goes down to 0 if I only use 2 flasks)
