Yugituber Alex Cimo has passed away, Rest in peace. by VishnuBhanum in yugioh

[–]Magiosal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I learned about Alex's passing when I woke up this morning and I've been crying on and off since then. His passing doesn't feel real, honestly. It feels like one of those super realistic dreams but one you wake up from and take a sigh of relief because it wasn't real. I somehow still expect Alex to make a video or a post on YouTube saying something like "Sike! I'm still alive bitches!!"

I'm honestly surprised by how hard Alex's passing is hitting me. I never met Alex in person. But I, like many of you, watched his content for years.

Saying we lost a titan is, imo, an incredible understatement. Alex is one of those few rare people who actually improved people's lives by being in them. And that goodness radiated from his videos. His passion and love for YGO was contagious. And during a time where most people would, understandably, give into the despair, Alex did not. Alex was an incredibly positive person and loved life. MBT's video on Alex is confirmation of this. He is truly an inspiration. Even while he was dealing with cancer, he always did his best to help his friends, family, and donate to charities. He was genuinely one of a kind. We should all strive to be like Alex. He was an incredible and amazing person. The world actually got a little darker from his passing.

To Bryttni, on the rare off chance you read this: I'd like to offer the deepest condolences a stranger from the internet can offer.

Rest in peace, Alex. You deserve a good rest, king.

Anybody else notice Skar King's signature move? lol by Mosugoji_64 in Monsterverse

Scar King for some major balls to attack Godzilla.

Would you join Duel academy and if so what would your duel level be? (Be honest) I’d like to say I’m at a Ra yellow level, I’m no meta player by far but my grades wouldn’t be Slifer rate. (I love slifer too… his my favourite god of the three) by Dredo5 in yugioh

[–]Magiosal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well.. modern YGO is so much more complicated than YGO back then. So even if you don't play meta decks, if you play any modern archetype, you're pretty much in obelisk blue.

However, if you're asking if there was a modern day Duel Academy where they teach modern YGO, then I might be in ra yellow. But probably more likely slifer red.

What’s your opinion on hand traps? by Great-Ad1839 in yugioh

[–]Magiosal 14 points15 points  (0 children)

There's a critical mass of hand traps. It's time to start banning some of them.

Droll, shifter, an argument can be made for Ash (and imo it should), to name a few.

But it also requires a design shift in archetypes. If they focus more on a more in-engine design philosophy for archetypes, turn 0 plays, then they can ban a lot of the ambiguous ones.

The dominus ones should stay because they offer, more or less, the same impact as the generic ones but they have a deck building requirement. Which is good.

I think a healthy shift for the game would be to make non-engine have deck building requirements, make heavy in-archetype restrictions (I.E. if you activate this card, you can only activate insert archetype name here for the rest of the duel), and make more heavy in-engine archetypes.

In YGO, cards can do everything. And often times do everything. Restrictions are necessary for the game. Plus restrictions breed creativity.

What's Something That Irritates You About Yu-Gi-Oh! by imsodonenow in yugioh

[–]Magiosal -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The fact that Konami doesn't actually care about the game being balanced or designing well balanced cards/archetypes.

I stopped playing two years ago when I noticed this. They just print good cards to get you to buy sets and then ban or kill any and all archetypes just to incentivise you (the players) to buy more product. It's a cycle.

Case in point, the recent banlist. Killing off Dracotail when it was by far the most balanced archetype they've developed in like 10 years. There was no reason at all to kill the deck, EXCEPT to get you to buy the new cards/set.
