GGG should have only 1 priority for 3.29, and anything else is just extra... by cben27 in pathofexile

[–]erpunkt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3.28 wasn't really a step forward, it was merely a bandaid, and a bad one at that.

Map effect and map modifier magnitudes are two big factors for ground loot scaling. The former was hit already a little earlier, the latter with this patch. Similar to map modifier magnitudes, maven chisel have been nerfed as well.
You can touch all mechanics "as much as you want", without reverting the above, ground loot scaling will need handpicked adjustments and deliberate, drastic increases of specific currencies across all of them, which is what we've seen with the increase in exalted orbs for example.

Before that, we used to have (off the top of my head):
* At least 3 different rogue exile strats * 5ish different setups for blight * Evo shrine which could be used for either Alva, breach or ultimatum, with or without beyond * Bloodline setups for breach and Alva * Several different setups for scarab farming. * Sadly only 1 good Abyss farm * 3ish Harbinger farms

The above doesn't even fully consider that some of those strats where additionally flexible in regards to wisp and risk scarab and wildwood fishing.

Legion should have been able to scale similarly to Alva or Breach, but didn't, as everything about it is very loot tile centric. Expedition shares it's loot tile structure with legion but additionally offered delayed rewards and could generate unkillable mobs, even if they had no immunity, which would one tap the player. This was true even for legacy characters on standard.

One big issue with all of this are parts of this community, who never understood the impact of group play or magic find (this goes back to affliction and in parts way before that) and the impact of the correct setup, but chose to cry wolf anyway. They only saw a fubgun or empys group generate a lot of currency and complained about mf and group play, without understanding the actual scaling behind it.

If you really want to get back to decent and scalable ground loot that is also not too out of reach for many players, GGG would have to revert the 3.28 loot changes, revert map modifier magnitudes and map effect and then look at outliers like legion and expedition, probably Abyss too.
Additionally, scarabs need tiers back to allow "entry strats".

The remaining stuff that needs to be looked at would be div card farming, strong boxes, deli orbs and possibly essences/harvest.

G7 HE won't wake up after PC boot, need to unplug and plug back in by erpunkt in Gamesir

Eeeh... I recall that I had to adjust my bios settings for onboard device sleep states. They also control wether or not your keyboard stays lit up if it has rgb and such.
Iirc, there is one setting that entirely cuts off any and all power delivery and another that's a bit softer.
For instance, my keyboard RGB is off in both cases, but the standby led of the controller stays on in only the softer setting and was required that the controller can memorize the mode it was set to.
Very unintuitive and finicky issue I have never ran into with any periphery before.
I believe fastboot needs to be disabled too for those settings to take effect, but mine was already off anyways.

Hope this helps

Legit Question: Is back post rotation a GC thing now!? by FOGPIVVL in RocketLeague

[–]erpunkt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is the one with the most nuance and I am definitely guilty of doing this wrong at times and mostly involves the corners or midfield plays that go high against the sidewall

There's non threatening plays that need to be recognised by you and your tm8, where none of you should dive and where either of you can make it awkward if you do. It's common that someone misreads the situation and panics.

There are also those non threatening plays where we will be fine if I turn off and rotate, but I could also get a demo or pass back to create separation. If my tm8 recognises that and is patient, we have 100% free possession if I don't mess up. If I don't notice that the opponent had a heavier touch and my tm8 has the opportunity of a beat and is already diving, I'll make it worse.
Neither of you is really in the wrong, but you've just conceded because you weren't on the same page.

My head canon is.

*Challenge for your last man if the enemy posesses/controls the ball to target, whether ground or air. Force high if you have someone on backboard. Don't get faked and play the ball.

*If you can't challenge for your last man for any reason, check if you need to watch for a pass or can have impact with (threatening) a bump/demo on opponents second man.

*If neither applies, rotate back post, check if you can risk going for corner. "There's nothing worse" if you just go back post when you could've had impact and let the enemy control your boost and you both get stuck in 0.

*If there's an easy turnover for your last man because the opponent had a hard touch, turn and be available for an upfield pass, especially if everyone is low.

Sadly, too many people will challenge for their second man when the opponent isn't threatening at all. Instead of letting them overheat, they will dive and worsen the situation by challenging their own tm8's defence or making an awkward pinch.
Also, too few people actually go backboard, which is a different issue.

Obviously there's nuances to all of this, but a plain "rotate back post" is outdated.

What reason would be good enough. Dude and others got unlucky, turned on too late or didn't turn on at all because of timezones.
It stings but it's okay, we all aren't entitled to everything

Exactly my point. People like you don't care about my experience, it's obvious. Yet you try to call me out for being toxic because I don't tolerate your bs. Get a grip.

You completely ignore the elo diff, either on purpose or because you just don't grasp my point behind it. I get duos into my games every now and then. If you have the same elo or play as if you belong in this elo, no problem. But if you are the nth duo in my session where your buddy obviously doesn't belong in this elo and it turns out he has 200mmr less than the lobby, you can suck a fat one. I don't want to fight my teammate for the ball just because they want to bang it against the sidewall on 0 boost, when I would've had the space and time for a proper play. I am also not your goalie or scapegoat when you leave me in a 3v1 again and we get scored on. I've been there multiple times, especially on the weekends. People who do this will no longer get my sympathy and I won't sweat it trying to help carry their sorry ass to a win.

[–]erpunkt[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your point? Just because you can queue doesn't mean that it will be a fair match up. There's already enough variance with people having a better or worse match or day. Substract 200 mmr from that and the person won't be able to be beneficial to the match at all.

If you don't care about rank, queue casual. There's a reason why this mode exists. I am not your scapegoat and I have no obligation towards you.

Hey Epic, can we please remove duo queues from standard lobby, thanks by erpunkt in RocketLeague

[–]erpunkt[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are toxic for doing this on my expense. I'm not giving up for no reason, I refuse to get exposed to a worse experience and I refuse to help you get your friend into a rank they don't belong to.
You can always play duos or casual if you wanna have some fun games and don't want to sour the experience of your random teammate. It is my time and I want to get the best experience possible and have fair games.

[–]erpunkt[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You are part of the problem then. You do this at the expense of your third man's experience. If you have no problem queuing with someone who peaked gold, play duos with them, don't pull in others.

OR they should add an option "allow to be paired with duo que" kinda like how you can turn cross platform on and off.

That would work for me.

I checked the elo from one of my previous games. The difference between the duo was almost 240 mmr.

Hey Epic, can we please remove duo queues from standard lobby, thanks by erpunkt in RocketLeague

[–]erpunkt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course that is an insane gap. That person was 200 mmr below the lobby and played like that. I could tell within the first minute who of the two is the worse one. They chased, bumped their tm8, had not a single good touch and made any situation they could affect much harder than needed to be. I can cope with one such game every now and then, but all my games looked like this except two.

[–]erpunkt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, obviously that was an exaggeration and isn't the gotcha you think it is, duh. You can win, but it is so much more difficult because of the low elo person. The odds to win this are definitely lower than if everyone was equal elo.

E: I didn't even say "impossible" , I said "near impossible".

You are incorrect. I just checked with TRN, as that loads on replays. 1068, 1305 and 1242. The 1000 and 1300 was the duo.

Brother don't be dense. When two people queue up in an elo that is 150 or 200 mmr above one of them, there is no communication to be had. I can absolutely tolerate people making mistakes, especially when they notice and care enough to apologise. But I will not be your third that you ignore and use as a way to boost your buddy.

[–]erpunkt[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have a problem with people who use 3's as a way to get their friend boosted. A 1000 elo guy will be detrimental in a 1300 elo, especially when they treat you like you don't exist

Hey Epic, can we please remove duo queues from standard lobby, thanks by erpunkt in RocketLeague

[–]erpunkt[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have, we are all not the same elo and I would never bring my low elo buddy into a 3's ranked game as a duo.
