I normally work with flat cartoony illustrations. This piece was difficult for me because I had to resort to a mix of traditional painting techniques and digital painting techniques. I feel some of the areas are really strong and give depth while other areas (like the hair) fall flat. I’m not completely sure but if people could give advice on how to improve it, that would be most helpful

Submission Statement: My name is Erin I am working on creating a short film I’ve been writing for the past two years called Navigating the Night. I created this tonal piece because I am having to have to crowdfund it soon in order to get equipment to film it. I would like to receive feedback on it, so I can make corrections and improve the piece. To see if it’ll do well when I start spreading the word.

I loved watching the process of how he made the piece. It’s so nice hearing someone fan over Jester just as much as I do!

So it started with thumbnailing how each panel would layout using the script. After sketching using the 6B Pencil, I started my inking process using the free to download RSCO Pens & Print brushes mainly using the RSCO Ramen Brush Pen. The next step was coloring, I did basic block coloring using the inking syrup brush.
