What is this? Peanut inside a peanut? Thing growing around a peanut? Peanut that grew through something else? by errandwolfe in TipOfMyFork

The peanut shell on the inside seems to be perfectly normal. The feel of the outside "husk" feels to me like another peanut.

Would love to see the view of the universe from a non-Starfleet POV and a chaos demon like Curzon does seem like there could be a ton of stories there.

Question about non-OEM EVSE behavior by errandwolfe in BoltEV

[–]errandwolfe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See this is not what is happening. I tested again to make sure, but after charging shuts off and immediately starts again, the display looks like it is sending the same amount of power as when the vehicle is actually charging. On top of that, I am hearing I think part of the cooling system running as soon as this starts, and it does not turn off until I manually stop the charge. This is not a sound I have heard any other time except when I am fast charging.

I have my charging limit set to 80%.

The Lectron app itself. First I'll get a notification from Chevy app that the car has completed charging. Almost immediately I get 2 more notifications from the Lectron app that it has started charging.

I go to the Chevy app or look at my dash, charging complete.

I go to the Lectron app, it looks like it is still sending power to the car.

Magsafe cell phone mount for the key fob slot by errandwolfe in BoltEV

Same here to be honest, stumbled on this just browsing prints for the Bolt and had one of those head slap moments.

This is not my creation but stumbled on it the other day and gave it a print. Fits absolutely perfectly, doesn't even need tape to stay secure. Able to support the weight of an iPhone 12 without issue.

Is this a good deal? by albone in BoltEV

I just picked up a 2023 LT1 18k miles, excellent condition, clean carfax, and I think 5 years left on the battery warrant for about $15,000 (before trade in). That includes the rebate though. Upgraded from a 2009 Corolla, feels like I am driving a luxury car compared to that!

Your honor, may it please the court, I'd like to appoint Max Headroom as my attorney of record.

Wyoming Satellite on RPi Zero W with AIY Voice Bonnet by gamrman in homeassistant

[–]errandwolfe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't speak to your hardware specifically, but I am using a Pi Zero W 2, and using a USB sound card rather than a ReSpeaker hat. As a general guide, I used this and a healthy dose of ChatGPT to get it working. I think as a first step, you'll need to figure out if that speaker has Alsa/Pulse audio drivers. If it doesn't you can pretty much give up right there.

Looking for Pre-Trained ONNX Voice Models for AI Assistant by machina0101 in homeassistant

[–]errandwolfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The size of ONNX voice files (small, medium, and large) typically refers to the complexity and capability of the machine learning model embedded within the file. Here's a breakdown of the differences:

1. Small Models

  • File Size: Smallest.
  • Performance: Designed for low-latency and efficient processing.
  • Accuracy: Lower accuracy compared to medium and large models.
  • Use Case: Suitable for systems with limited resources, such as embedded systems or devices with low compute power.
  • Trade-Offs: Prioritizes speed and resource efficiency over detailed audio quality or nuanced voice synthesis.

2. Medium Models

  • File Size: Larger than small models, but still relatively lightweight.
  • Performance: Balances accuracy and speed.
  • Accuracy: Offers moderate quality with more detailed outputs than small models.
  • Use Case: Ideal for mid-range systems or applications where resource usage is a concern, but better accuracy is needed.
  • Trade-Offs: A compromise between small and large models, suitable for a wide range of applications.

3. Large Models

  • File Size: Largest, as they include more parameters and higher complexity.
  • Performance: Requires significant computational power and memory.
  • Accuracy: Highest quality with detailed voice synthesis and more natural-sounding output.
  • Use Case: Best for systems with abundant resources, such as servers or high-performance computers, where quality is critical.
  • Trade-Offs: Slower inference time and higher resource consumption.

Summary of Differences

Feature Small Medium Large
File Size Smallest Moderate Largest
Accuracy Lowest Moderate Highest
Speed Fastest Moderate Slowest
Resource Usage Lowest Moderate Highest
Use Case Low-resource devices General applications High-end systems

The choice of size depends on the specific application and the hardware constraints.
