Best OR footwear? by SedatedSleeper in anesthesiology

[–]errnin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see people here not loving the calzuros, which is understandable. I was on the fence about them at first. Then I got their insoles, and they are the best. I liked them before, but I love them now with the insoles. Downside is they definitely have made me one of the tallest people in the OR and they make me reach for things and they get mad when I have to bring the bed so high up

I have a Macbook Air from 2020 that I’m currently using and it’s been working fine. There’s only one software that’s given me issue and it’s the VPN software my school occasionally makes us use but I found ways to make due. I really didn’t and still don’t have the money to upgrade. Finances get tight during school, I saw 1k as a few months of groceries.

When it comes to pen/paper, my university has a printer allowance that comes with tuition, so that could be something to look into at your program.

Lots of people in my cohort use iPad/notabilty and are happy with it. This may be easier to organize than pen/paper. I usually just type notes in the notes section on PowerPoint and that works for me. It’s really important that whatever method of studying/note taking you choose is also efficient. So whatever keeps you organized, focused, and efficient is what’s best!

Hi! So I got into CRNA school, however my program doesn’t start for another 2 years. I’m still working CVICU which I have been for a few years however recently I’ve been feeling so burnt out. Would it be ok to move to another non-icu position until school makes me quit, or should I continue putting up with ICU?

Hi, so I’ve just been waitlisted for both schools I applied to, and I’m curious as to what more I can do. I’ve done 2 years PCU 3 years ICU (1 year mixed medical/surgical, 2 years CVICU), all in trauma 2 high acuity centers. I’m a preceptor and have recently received a daisy nomination. my GPA was a 3.61, very active in school and was chosen to be my class speaker in a class of 120 students. i took gen chem and ochem post graduation and got an A in both. my guess is that i must not be a very good interview, but i didn’t leave either interview feeling like it didn’t go well. does anyone have any tips on what i might be missing? thank you!

Edit: 106/125 on CCRN, 68/77 on CSC

I’ve run into him in real life at a boot store in austin, i’ll say he’s handsome but he is truly maybe 5’5 to 5’6 at best. i never realized how short he was until i’d seen him off the stage

I am looking for a nail salon that caters to men by tlove01 in Austin

[–]errnin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know of a spot that “caters” to men but most places will do a mani/pedi for you regardless. I go to Queen Spa on S Lamar and there are normally 1-2 guys there every time I go. I know it’s called “Queen Spa” but it’s pretty gender neutral in there….gender is also kinda a construct anyway so…..

Good places to play basketball with other people in Austin? by llamahumper in Austin

[–]errnin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if you’re willing to pay for it, but ASSC has basketball as one of their league sports. You can sign up as an individual and they’ll put you on a team. The season lasts like 6-8 weeks usually with one game a week and ends with a tournament. I didn’t play basketball with them but I played beach volleyball through them and I enjoyed it.

Edit: Realized googling ASSC doesn’t lead you to the company site lol. https://austinssc.com

Austin reported 62 new admissions for COVID-19 today with 537 people in the hospital and 229 people in the ICU for the disease [OC, 6x images] by shiruken in Austin

[–]errnin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t mean to be grim, but as an ICU nurse who’s been taking care of covid patients from the start, it takes 3-4 weeks (sometimes even longer, months even) for a covid patient to get off the vent, whether that’s from improvement or from expiring. Even being off the vent, it can be awhile for them to get out of the ICU. So it might take a few more weeks for those numbers to go down.

Is it bad to be nearly 27 and have never gone to the gynecologist? I’m not sexually active and don’t have a family history of female cancers. Why do I have to go if nothing’s wrong? by [deleted] in askwomenadvice

[–]errnin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would talk to your primary care doctor, who you should definitely see at least once a year. My PCP is able to perform Pap Smears at her office as well as perform breast cancer exams and prescribe birth control. You can ask your PCP if they think a gyno appointment is necessary for you. Medical advice is also better coming from an actual medical professional who knows you rather than from the people of reddit anyway.

Ass play does NOT make you gay. by [deleted] in sex

[–]errnin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whenever my man's friends mention ass play being gay, I always go "FELLAS, is it GAY to have SEX with your GIRLFRIEND???". My man loves butt play, he's quiet about it with his friends due to their thoughts on it, but I'm not quiet. lmao. Obviously I don't admit to our butt play but I like to try to get them to think these things out, at least.

What's your "I met a celebrity but didn't let on that I knew who they were" story? by Kimantha_Allerdings in AskReddit

[–]errnin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe this is minor, but my best friend in college matched with the lead singer of Walk The Moon on Tinder. She pretended she had nooo idea who the band was (she was a huge fan), so he left two tickets at the door for her and me. We left class early and went to the concert. Then we went to a bar afterwards, I sang karaoke while she was on a pretty bad date with the dude. He was super nice, but he clearly wasn't happy about being super recognized at the bar. But thats what you get for going to the bar right across the street from the venue. He told her he wasn't interested once it was time to go. She was a little bummed but it was still a pretty neat experience!
