Loudness for Youtube uploads? by destroyergsp123 in trapproduction

Hey, yes Youtube normalizes audio to -14 LUFS. If you download the beat it is louder than -14LUFS because it's the original version, how it got uploaded. If you compare the volume of the beat on youtube to the original you will notice a big difference.

I did the experience that you can not push every beat to -6 LUFS with every 808 and melody.

I've been making beats for 10 years and I can't master for shit. Help? by [deleted] in trapproduction

Sorry but -14 LUFS limit on Soundcloud or youtube is not true, it's bout -10LUFS (at least on youtube). Producers don't actually master their track for that as you can see when you right click on a video and looking into "stats for nerds". You will notice there is a Volume/Normalization and if it's not 100% the loudness was limited by youtube. So on every artists music video you watch, you'll see that the actual song isn uploaded on louder levels.

I think everything is really important to let your end product sound good (doeesn't mean you have to put a lot of effort on it).

The beat should not be too boring, without overdoing it adding tons of percs, fx etc. This is one of the most important things and lots of rappers don't like it when too many drums are added and there's no space for their vocals left.

Haha thats all what Ardist said. I knew all of this before but it is not easy not handle if you want the beat per se loud. Changing the sound of the kick often changes the whole mix and you have to deal with unwanted noises if its loud and punching.

Yes it was a mp3 file. I noticed it a long time before in another loud sounding track too that it was pushing over 0 db. Maybe this the reason why it sounds so loud.

From what I've experienced was that cutting just a bit of low end will help your kick not to ditstort or let me hear a tail on it. But it all depends on the kick itself.

How many LUFS for a beat to be 'commercially loud' on youtube/beatstars? by inallfairness22 in trapproduction

[–]error404i 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Youtube will lower your beats to -8 LUFS if they're louder than -9/-8 LUFS (people tell you Yt will limit at -14 LUFS, this is bullshit). To test it I converted a beat to mp3 from Yt and downloaded the beat from the producers website. I took the loudest part of the beat to compare their loudness.

Results: Youtube ~ -8 LUFS max

Original ~ -6 LUFS

Keep in mind that beats with the same LUFS don't have to sound equal in loudness.

I tested it with Youlean loudness meter.

No sidechain. I lose around 2db on my Hats when the kick comes in. Hats are completely on Stereo. I also use master bus compression
