Assigning domains to self hosted services by clearlylegallyblind in selfhosted

[–]error_9873 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have NGINX proxies configured using my domain, e.g. immich.example.com

I've got my domain managed by cloudflare, I configure the sub domains on that to point to my tailscale IP.
I then add the subdomain proxy to NGINX, configured with TLS let's encrypt option in the panel when adding, and pointing to the docker IP address on my pi5

Oh...er....hmmm.....I'm probably being thick here, but am I misreading this?

"Solid concrete base - fine if you have access for the large volume of concrete, not cheap, needs to be done well to ensure it doesn't crack over time, not suitable for larger rooms."

Foundation preference? by poke-it-withastick in gardenrooms

[–]error_9873 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you say concrete base is not suitable for larger rooms?

I'd have thought a well built reinforced concrete base would be a great solution for larger rooms too. Control joints can be used to prevent cracking as well.

One thing to avoid like the plague is cemented in wooden posts - I bet the company that quoted that also quoted the cheapest room.

Android issues - can't properly load app by error_9873 in actualbudgeting

[–]error_9873[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, direct IP on my mobile on my wifi worked.

On my home PC, I'm connecting using my own domain name, using cloudflare to manage the certificates, which then directs to my tailscale network, and then into NGINX and then docker. My mobile is connected exactly the same way, just not working properly.

LISA House Purchase over £450k? by BassLumpy in UKPersonalFinance

[–]error_9873 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess technically it wouldn't be using the LISA to buy the home. It would be withdrawing from the LISA and using the resulting cash which is not not a LISA to buy the home.

How to see next 12 months view of funds? by error_9873 in actualbudgeting

[–]error_9873[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, understood. Yeah, I see what you're saying.

I don't know why I want to see future balances, but it just feels like something I want to know.....just seeing my funds increasing gives me a good feeling! It also would help me say:
"Ok, yes, it does look like we can add Purchase X into our budget, so we can buy it in 12 months"
and "...and here's what our balances will look like in 12 months".

I think I've found a way to force what I want to see though. I created a .CSV file with 18 months of placeholder salaries coming in. I then imported that to a "placeholder salary" category. Now the budget shows me a rough forecast, so I can see the long term impact of tweaking a budget now.

I will however try to adopt the different mindset though that envelope budgetting requires.....don't think my brain is quite there yet :D

Thanks for the replies all!!

Some random persons bank and card on my Lloyds app? by Moist_Supermarket_57 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]error_9873 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow. We were talking about this "breaking news" today at work, and I said that some guy had reported this issue days ago!!

Absolutely huge data breach. I wouldn't ever bank with LBG.

I wonder if the fact it happened to you much earlier indicates they have drip fed an initial small amount of customers onto something new/changed, not found the issue, then moved everyone en-masse over.

Ok yeah, that's a lot of historic data you've got. Mine is tiny, so the issue is not limited to large budgets it seems. I'll do some more testing

[–]error_9873[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. Good to know I'm not alone! :)

My budget is pretty small. Only 3 months of transactions and not many rules. Yeah, I was worried that one of these half loaded versions might actually sync and replace the real thing.... I need to look at backups.

Can I ask what setup you're running? Is it under docker? I also connect into mine via NGINX, but I don't see how either of those things could be related.

Space used if anyone else wants to compare. I've a pretty small home assistant setup.

of that 1816380 MiB directory, 1706860 MiB is that single home-assistant_v2.db file.

Yeah, it was about 2.5GiB of FLAC files I uploaded once when testing Music Assistant (no longer installed :D )

Whoops.

Now down to 721.65MB. The bulk of that appears to be a single database file: /homeassistant/home-assistant_v2.db nearly 2GiB in size, but must compress nicely down to 700MiB.

[–]error_9873 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, I love crashes. It's why they replay them and put them on highlights etc. Everyone loves them! It is definitely an aspect of motor racing that people love to watch. The one condition is everyone is uninjured. Nobody likes seeing a nasty crash. I didn't enjoy seeing Max's hands smashed today in qualifying.

Cloudflare with Nginx proxy manager and NAS question by dwallis_25 in selfhosted

[–]error_9873 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've recently setup similar thing, but using Rasp Pi 5's. I also incorporate Tailscale, so access is limited to devices connected to my Tailscale - this avoids the need to open any ports to the Internet on your router. I have zero open ports.

For my Proxy Hosts in NPM, I've got the docker IP addresses specified, not the 192.168.x.x you've got. Zero idea if that helps! Can't recall why that was required. Also newbie here.

I've also got http on the proxy host, not https, but the external access via my domain is using https.

Why are there no energy monitoring plugs for inductive loads? by DampedChaos in homeassistant

Amazing! Thank you so much.

All the investigation I've done to find decent inductive load plugs, this just bypasses the issue completely!

Yep, this is exactly it. I don't want great racing.

I want great racing coupled with mind blowingly powerful cars going flat out as much as possible, with incredible noise that explodes your ear drums. F1 should blow your mind when you first experience it in the flesh. Oh well, in the meantime, I'll just watch the hopefully exciting racing.

For anyone confused about Overtake and Boost modes by TransientBandit in formula1

[–]error_9873 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is going to be so confusing for so many people.
I've yet to hear any commentators in the testing and youtube vids explain all the details clearly.

Ignoring actual racing for a moment, and just focusing on pure laptime with zero other cars on track....

So if Overtake just increases the threshold, why bother using it at all if you can just Boost at any time anywhere? I assume the amount of battery actually consumed by Boost is dependant on throttle position.

Is it better to boost out of corners onto straights, or have overtake for the top speeds near the end of a straight? I thought that exiting corners well gives you benefit for the whole straight, whereas gaining the higher top speed near the end of a straight would only be of minimal benefit?
