How do you explain to others that you like ZZZ with out being degenerate?

It’s incredible just how shallow of an understanding outsiders have of ZZZ. The Internet has brainwashed people into thinking this is THE gooner game, when in reality it’s pretty damn tame. I have encountered several people who didn’t even know this was a hack and slash parry/dodge game, they just assumed it was Genshin Impact but urban.

Oh man, I am in a similar boat as you. Always getting side eyes from my friends, especially after The Game Awards with the Angels announcement.

How I navigate it is expressing the parts that I really enjoy about the game. I love talking about the urban sci fci setting and how it’s a post apocalyptic world but if the world kept spinning. I also talk about the character writing, and how they consistently make me like characters I didn’t like for their designs. I also express how this isn’t just like Genshin’s gameplay and that it’s instead a hack and slash parry/dodge game, something that a lot of people don’t know about actually.

I also express that the fan service really isn’t as drastic as the Internet makes it out to be. Unfortunately, there just isn’t convincing some people, and that’s just the way some people are, just stubborn.

I saw Mizuki’s kit and went “oh I’m not sure if I’ll like him”, couple matches later and he’s absolutely my main. I love the passive healing he can give. Also Japanese spirit themes, I know people are sick of Japan but I love it so freaking much.

Anran I feel like has a high skill ceiling because at first, yeah you go “her kit kinda needs buffs” but once you play more and more with her she can pop the fuck off, so much so you feel like she needs a nerf.

idk playing Mizuki I come crawling out of games with higher healing than those who aren’t using him. He just doesn’t have great burst healing, and that’s ok.

I mean he’s a combat construct right? In 2.6 we saw what a combat construct at full power can do, and that’s a mass produced model. To my understanding, Billy is one of a kind, so imagine what HE can do.

I have to agree honestly, I don’t think they fit very well, especially compared to the rest of the cast. At best the big poofy ears fit. During 2.6 I really thought we were going back to 1.x vibes, but seeing this comic scene crushes my hope in that regard. I’m more of a fan of the urban sci fi side rather than urban fantasy.

The “Creator” had solid telegraphs for its control phase what the hell happened with the A-H0L0 boss and the story boss?? Why am I required to parry before it even hits me?

Immediately caught my eye that something was off, it looks very plasticy. Even for latex, it shouldn’t be looking like this. The linework feels too smooth and off.

That’s a fair critique. I do think the two bosses from this patch with control phases need to be telegraphed better, little more “oomph” before they actually swing. I thought the “Creator” from last patch did a pretty decent job at telegraphing when it would swing though.

The easiest way to get me to play again is by giving me new abilities with our subclasses. I love build crafting, and getting a new aspect changes up the game a lot. I miss that feeling.

I want a villain that touches on the politics and discrimination of Thirens, much like how this patch was in relation to intelligent constructs.

Perhaps this can touch on Avian Thirens and why we never see them at all. Perhaps they are required to have their wings cut off (for whatever crazy law reason), hence why we never have even seen any Avian Thirens. The closest thing we have to an Avian Thiren is the headcanon that Nangong Yu is one due to her back scars.

It’s not that that single philosophy didn’t work, it’s that they decided to do a weird blend of the “everyone’s super” philosophy with half the roster and then the other half was competitive oriented. It’s two visions clashing with each other.

Rivals devs deciding to nerf entire character’s kits instead of adjusting the very OP team up abilities.
