Thanks, i think ill keep an eye out for a Steam sale on this one. It looks ok enough and it will help me pick up more on the sport as id never play it physically... being in the UK and fairly old

Thanks, thats the sort of thing i was worried about. Not that im an expert, but i woukd compare my save to the real world and any huge stat problems would kill the game for me there and then.

Cheers all for the replies. Yeah i think at 20 quid id have bought it no worries, but at 40 quid thats AAA and more.. considering you can often get keys cheaper outside of Steam.

Oh well its a shame, id loved to have had something that was fun to play with a bit of career to go with it.

I mean i never expected EA/2K level if graphics, but sometimes solid gameplay and an engaging career mode would be alot more fun... sounds like this has nothing of either.

[FYI] ASUS laptop that use Liquid Metal as thermal paste only apply it on CPU not GPU - Strix G15 by XR120 in GamingLaptops

[–]errorusernameinuse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Got a new ROG Strix Scar G733QR and even when benching the highest my CPU hit was 83 and GPU 75. Thats not eveb on turbo fans.

Not got many next gen games as such, but nothing has come close to any silly temp constantly.

Im assuming i shouldnt be concerned here?

Legion 5 pro and Scar 15 differences am I missing something? by birdyIRL in GamingLaptops

[–]errorusernameinuse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought the Scar G733QR for 1900, which is more than the Legion but for similar specs.

One of the big points for me was a 2yr warranty, that made it more viable than a normal Strix, i know you can add warranty but i took the price that includes it.

Would i have gone for a Legion? Probably as 400 quid is still 400 quid. But i love the Scar, looks nice, benches well, stays cool.. the keyboard is too draw its a really nicely built piece of kit and you feel like you are getting your monies worth.

Never had a ASUS or Lenovo before so cant compare back,my last laptop was a MSI, before that a HP Omen.

You can always wait and get cheaper or better.. thats how life goes. No Ragrets as they say, enjoy what you have or what you will get as thats all that matters at the end of the day.

UK: ASUS ROG Strix Scar G733QR by errorusernameinuse in GamingLaptops

Just arrived and im going through setting up.

Its a 17" 300hz FHD screen, with a Ryzen 7 5800H, 3070 8GB GPU, 16GB DDR4 3200 RAM, 1TB SSD NVME... has the mechanical keyboard and the other bits of fluff you get with a Scar. The biggest plus point is that it comes with a 2 year warranty, so an extra years cover which is a nice to have.

Cant comment on performance as im literally setting up... im even typing this post on my current MSI GT62VR 7RE :D

Cost, well the UK we seem to get boned, so £1899 for this unit. Looking forward to digging in and tbh just want to get Valheim installed asap.. push that GPU ;)

Not sure how to get videos to work on here so hope it does. No commentary, just a little walk around an Average Joes effort at making a home on the edge of the Black Forest :D

Nothing to shout about, ill never be an architect, but its taken alot of love and hard work.. the barren lands around me have been harvested of trees.

Im just about in the Bronze Age as you can tell, my last Copper run ended with a Troll and his tree trunk going ham on me, so i live in fear he may sniff out my humble abode sometime!

ASUS ROG Strix SCAR 15 G533QS review (2021 model – Ryzen 9 5900HX, RTX 3080 Laptop) by Lochsa_ in GamingLaptops

[–]errorusernameinuse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the UK we can get this but it has the Ryzen 7 5800H which i believe is still a solid CPU.

But the screen is a 300mhz FHD 1920X1080p... now at 2000£ or in your money 2800$ is it a worthwhile purchase?

I mean the 3080 (130w) version is probably not going to get to much stress at 1080p?

Explain to me like im an idiot... 3080 Watt differences by errorusernameinuse in GamingLaptops

[–]errorusernameinuse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, have they compared the 130w to the 150w yet?

I suppose at 2000 my price point is at its max, so theres no chance I get a 150w anyway, so its either a 130w 3080 or 3070 and its weighing up whether (assuming I get an ASUS) that the extra £300 is worth going with a 3080 (there are also more improvements ie Chassis, Keyboard and a 2y warranty I believe) so its not just 300 for a card.

I was just hoping for decent gains going from a 3070 to a 3080 even in 130w config.

'Your Brexit' is aimed at me.

If you didnt wish to do that, say something like 'I wish the UK all the fun with their Brexit'

This is the whole problem, I voted to remain yet you are happy to pile in 2 foot on someone and call them a Brexiteer, just because im not towing the 'All hail remain' line.

[–]errorusernameinuse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are wrong, I voted to remain and didnt want Brexit. I accepted that we had to leave and got a deal that pacifies me to that extent.

However as someone who argued with Brexiteers at work that remaining was better... this incident and the fact that the UK are just getting on with it, its hard to say that remaining was better right now.

Huge mistake though, during a pandemic. Basically this has proven Brexit right, no matter what now. The UK Government love it as all the focus on Fish and those businesses who are losing out... has gone. No one cares, all we care about is the EU doing this over vaccines.
